Pokemon Pokopia Day One Update Patch Notes Revealed

Pokemon Pokopia players will have a day one patch to download to enjoy one of the game’s key functions, according to the notes posted by Nintendo and The Pokemon Company. The day one update for Pokemon Pokopia also fixed some bugs, though it is unclear which particular issues were addressed with this update.

Pokemon Pokopia is a life simulator that draws inspiration from games like Dragon Quest Builders, and allows players to rebuild an abandoned town from the ground up. Pokopia players assume the role of a Ditto that can transform itself to look like a Pokemon trainer, and can change into various Pokemon like Lapras to navigate through the world. Pokemon Pokopia is also home to some recurring critters, along with new variants of Pokemon like Tangrowth and Snorlax called Professor Tangrowth and Mosslax. As of this writing, Pokemon Pokopia has started its global launch via the Nintendo eShop, and is currently available across Asia and Oceania.

Pokemon Pokopia’s Day One Patch Is Mandatory

As Pokemon Pokopia continues its global release, players must check to see if they have the latest version of the new game. The Pokemon Company released version 1.0.1 of Pokemon Pokopia as a day one update for players to download. Via machine translation, The Pokemon Company stated that Pokopia‘s 1.0.1 update fixed some bugs, though it is unclear what those issues were. Additionally, Pokemon Pokopia‘s 1.0.1 update is mandatory to enjoy the game’s online features, and players who use local communication must ensure their game versions match. Some of the online features of Pokemon Pokopia include four-player modes like Hide and Seek, and exploring the towns and buildings that other users have created so far. Along with the 1.0.1 update, Pokemon Pokopia players must have an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription to play online.

Although the game is still rolling out across the globe, Pokemon Pokopia has already become one of Nintendo’s best-rated titles in recent memory. As of this writing, Pokemon Pokopia is tied with Pokemon Y as the highest-rated Pokemon game on Metacritic. Both Pokopia and Pokemon Y currently have a Metacritic score of 88. By comparison, other Pokemon titles, such as Pokemon Black and White, have a Metacritic score of 87, putting Pokopia in elite company. Pokemon Pokopia is also trading blows with Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem, as the latter title currently has a Metacritic score of 89. As far as 2026 game releases go, Pokopia‘s score of 88 also puts it in a tie with Esoteric Ebb and Mewgenics.

Pokemon Pokopia’s Launch Comes On A Busy Day For Gamers

However, Pokemon Pokopia‘s arrival is not the only thing happening on March 5. The first Thursday of March is a busy time for gamers, with Marathon also going live on that day, and Slay the Spire 2 entering early access. Given the different genres that each March 5 title encompasses, gamers looking for something new will have options to pick from. Although physical copies of Pokemon Pokopia are on a Game-Key Card, that has not stopped the new Pokemon spin-off from finding success at launch. Time will tell how long the initial success of Pokemon Pokopia will hold.

As for launch plans, Pokemon Pokopia will hold a special event starting March 10. The new event will allow players to collect some cotton spores for Hoppip, which can then be redeemed for picnic-themed pieces of furniture. However, Pokemon Pokopia players will need to rebuild a Pokemon Center in their town before Hoppip shows up. Ergo, main story progress will need to be made. Players will have until March 24 to gather cotton spores for Hoppip. Alongside the March event, Pokopia players can also redeem a Mystery Gift that will grant them a Ditto Rug for their home. The Mystery Gift event runs until January 31, 2027. All in all, Pokemon Pokopia‘s launch should give fans something to look forward to.

Pokemon Pokopia Version 1.0.1 Patch Notes (March 4, 2026)

  • Fixed some bugs.
  • The latest update data is required to play online features.
