Pokemon Pokopia Hoppip Event is Officially Live Now

Pokomen Pokepia‘s More Spores for Hoppip event is now officially live, offering players their first limited-time quest. The first big in-game event in Pokemon Pokopia runs from March 10-25, so while players will have a little over two full weeks to complete it, they won’t want to waste any time before they start completing its tasks and racking up its rewards.

The immediate success of Pokemon Pokopia is one that has resonated all throughout the Pokemon community. The franchise’s first ever life simulation sees players taking on the role of a Ditto who has morphed into human form on a deserted island, befriending a wide variety of other Pokemon and making the space feel much more like home for them. Having just launched on March 5, Pokemon Pokopia has already become one of the highest-rated games in the Pokemon series, tying Pokemon Y for first place and beating out its counterpart, Pokemon X.

How to Start Pokemon Pokopia’s More Spores for Hoppip Event

  • Finish all normal quests to rebuild the Pokemon Center
  • Receive the Talk of the Town notification
  • Meet Hoppip Near the Pokemon Center and speak to it
  • Find Drifloon near the ocean bridge
  • Build Drifloon three campfires side by side
  • Use Drifloon’s doll to visit the Dream Islands
  • Collect Cotton Spores on the Dream Islands
  • Trade the spores to the Pokemon Center for rewards
  • Play daily throughout the event to visit new Dream Islands

In order to even get the More Spores for Hoppip event to start, players will first need to rebuild the first Pokemon Center in Pokemon Pokopia. This can be a very time-consuming quest line, requiring multiple steps, the recruitment of several helpful Pokemon, and waiting a full day for construction to finish, so players who want to dive right into the event will hopefully have already completed it. If the Pokemon Center is already standing, players will receive the Talk of the Town notification letting them know that the event has started, and they’ll be able to meet Hoppip just outside the Pokemon Center. They’ll then have to find Drifloon near the bridge by the ocean and build it a suitable habitat of three side-by-side campfires, after which, Drifloon will give them a doll that they can use to visit Dream Islands and collect Cotton Spores. Only one island can be visited per day of the event, but players are able to go back as many times as they like, and they can trade the spores in at the Pokemon center for exclusive rewards.

The main set of rewards for the event are a variety of picnic-themed furniture that players can use to spruce up the areas around their houses in Pokemon Pokopia. Additionally, the limited-time event gives players a chance to add Hoppip and add it and its evolutions, Skiploom and Jumpluff, into the mix of island guests. These Pokemon will be attracted by the new furniture items, which won’t be available for acquisition in the game outside the event period, so players hoping to see these Pokemon will want to get to work on spore collection.

Some players have already gotten a head start on Pokemon Pokopia‘s big Hoppip event, after discovering that they could manipulate the clock on their Switch 2 consoles and start collecting spores after it displayed any date during the event period. There don’t appear to be any reports of negative consequences in the game itself for doing so, and players should theoretically be able to keep turning back the clock to keep the event going, though there are reports from people who have tried setting the clock to March 26 or later and then going back in time to find that the event will no longer be going on. All that being said, players should exercise caution in playing Pokemon Pokopia in ways that weren’t intended by the development team, as “time travel” methods in similar games like the Animal Crossing series can have some pretty major unexpected side effects.

More Spores for Hoppip will still be available to players who haven’t even started the game yet, but since it’s set to end on March 25, they will want to begin on the prerequisite tasks immediately. Additionally, considering that Amazon has already hiked up the price of Pokemon Pokopia to $79.99 due to its popularity, and physical copies are selling out at many online and brick-and-mortar retailers, Pokemon fans who are interested in the game but haven’t picked it up yet may want to act fast.
