Pokemon Winds and Waves have been hit by multiple leaks recently, and one included details for a new evolution for Salandit, also mentioning its new type combination. Pokemon Winds and Waves will reportedly be some of the biggest games ever made in the series, if not the biggest overall. Gen 10 will feature underwater exploration, according to leaks and based on the official teaser trailer for Pokemon Winds and Waves. The games will also include a new battle gimmick based on weather, new Raids, and plenty of critters.
One of the biggest leaks so far is that Pokemon Winds and Waves‘ Pokedex will have 530 Pokemon, of which 300 are new, and the games will reportedly have MMO-like features that were supposed to be built upon before being scrapped. A lot of the earlier leaks from the Teraleak in 2025 have already been confirmed by the reveal trailer, so it’s easy to believe the MMO approach, the big setting (which was supposed to have procedural generation for the islands), and the box Legendaries having a major role in the story. Now, a new leak surfaced about Salandit, and it could be a very interesting one.
Pokemon Winds and Waves Will Have a Poison/Dragon Evolution for Salandit
Centro Leaks shared leaks from two sources, including the notorious Billy, who predicted the Pokemon FRLG ports, and among them was a mention of Salandit getting a Poison/Dragon regional evolution in Gen 10. This is potentially a big deal for a few reasons. One is that there are Komodo dragons in Southeast Asia, the real-world inspiration for Gen 10, and a Komodo dragon Pokemon in Pokemon Winds and Waves seems extremely likely.

Not only that, but among the brand-new leaked Pokemon in Pokemon Winds and Waves, there was also a Komodo dragon critter with three stages, presumably a pseudo-Legendary. There is a chance that this is Salandit’s cross-gen evolution, but it could also mean that they are two different pocket monsters. A Poison/Dragon evolution for Salandit is great regardless, as the type combination is not widely used at all. The only Poison/Dragon Pokemon in the series are Dragalge, Eternatus, and Naganadel, of which one is a Legendary and the other an Ultra Beast. This could also be a chance to make a male-only evolution for Salandit to compensate for its female-only evolution, Salazzle.
It’s unclear if Salandit itself will get a regional form in Pokemon Winds and Waves, but if so, it could be interesting to see a new spin on the critter’s design. A Poison/Dragon evolution for this Pokemon is not hard to believe, as it’s already a Poison/Fire creature, and it could very well fit the setting of Gen 10.
Pokemon Winds and Waves will have the biggest region ever, if leaks are to be believed, and with potentially 300 new Pokemon, it would make sense to add new cross-gen evolutions and regional forms. Salazzle is rarely used in competitive, so giving more love to Salandit and its evolution line could be what the Pokemon needs.
