While it remains to be seen how many Pokemon Winds and Waves leaks actually make it into the mainline Gen 10 releases, it seems safe to say that it’s been quite the leaky generation because of the teraleaks (and others), and now fans have gotten their first look at the professor and champion of the brand-new region in Pokemon Winds and Waves.
What’s unique is that the versions fans get to see are younger than what will reportedly appear in the Pokemon Winds and Waves games. In one case, it’s simple aging taking place; in the other, there’s time travel involved (if more directly affected, although not unlike the professors of Scarlet and Violet). Fans can expect to see these versions in the Pokemon Winds and Waves prequel anime, but it does give fans a clearer, if still obscured, picture of the upcoming open-world games.

As posted by Centro Leaks, the well-known Pokemon leak aggregator, the concept art of 3 characters coming in the prequel anime has leaked. The figure on the right (seen at the prior link) is a young girl with some kind of plush Chansey, it would appear, who appears to be of no consequence. The first thought to come to mind is that this could be the purported protector of the story Seed Pokemon in Pokemon Winds and Waves, but Centro focuses on the other characters.

Reportedly, the new Pokemon Professor is the blue-haired young man on the left. He apparently travels through time at some point, although how or why is unclear, and that’s why he is younger in the anime but older in the new Pokemon games. The Silver Fox with a Hawaiian-like T-Shirt in the middle is the Champion of the new region, the ultimate test for players in Pokemon Winds and Waves. He’ll be even older in the games, but it’s not clear by how much or how much his design will change.

The upcoming prequel anime is set to deal with the lore of the region, specifically around the legendary Pokemon of Pokemon Winds and Waves. In other words, perhaps they will explain the time travel component of the professor, but otherwise, it’s a small detail for fans to look forward to upon release. And yet, there’s as much known about this prequel anime as there is about the upcoming Gen 10 games, which is to say very little and just as little is expected.
Pokemon Winds and Waves will release some time in 2027, although Game Freak and Nintendo haven’t revealed anything since Pokemon Day this year, and the companies are not expected to reveal anything more serious until Pokemon Day in February 2027. All fans can do until then is exercise patience.
