A renowned Destiny 2 content creator is officially retiring in August, with a final video going live on August 18, before the YouTuber fully moves on to a different game. Destiny 2 has unfortunately met its end on June 9, when the final update for the game, called Monument of Triumph, was released. Bungie announced that Destiny 2 would face end-of-service on May 21, and that the unreleased Shattered Cycle expansion would not come out, like any other future live-service update.
Huge Destiny 2 Content Creator Officially Retiring in August
Destiny 2 content creator and YouTuber Datto is officially retiring on August 18, 2026. The content creator announced both on YouTube and social media that the DattoDoesDestiny channel will see a final upload on August 18, after which Datto will move on to play Deadlock instead. The YouTuber stated that there could be more uploads on the DattoDoesDestiny channel in the future, but after August 18, fans shouldn’t expect any major new content. Still, the channel will remain active for fans to rewatch old videos whenever they want, but Datto’s future is now with Deadlock. Destiny 2‘s final update brought a surge in player numbers, but even with a daily average of around 50,000 players and no new content ever, it’s natural that Datto will want to start building a future elsewhere as a content creator.
