As of this writing, the PlayStation Plus subscription service has confirmed 7 games releasing on one of its tiers through September 2026. That leaves a lot of games to be confirmed, but it’s worth mentioning that this is mostly due to events. 4 of these 7 games were confirmed at or around the June State of Play, setting the stage for the few months to follow. It’s uncertain if PlayStation intends to hold a late summer/fall event, although it’s not unheard of, and/or if more PS Plus games would be confirmed there.
Of course, the PS Plus free games for June are available now, while the lists for PS Plus Extra and Premium have also completed their rollout. The former games catalog are only available until July 7, at which time they’ll be replaced with the new games. Until then, PS Plus users can claim Grounded: Fully Yoked Edition, a survival game where players are shrunk kids trying to survive their own backyard; Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, which is essentially Super Smash Bros. except for Nickelodeon characters; and Warhammer 40K: Darktide, the darkest game here and a brutal co-op action game. These games are available now, while 7 more are coming later in July through mid-September.

PS Plus Free (Essential) Games for July 2026 List
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (PS Plus Essential)
- For the King 2 (PS Plus Essential)
- CrossCode (PS Plus Essential)
Up first, of course, are the PS Plus free games for July 2026, which were recently confirmed to include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, For the King 2, and CrossCode. These games will be available beginning July 3, and all of them are available on both PS4 and PS5 consoles. Modern Warfare 3 (2023 version) hardly needs any introduction because of how popular Call of Duty games are, but it’s good timing to also pick it up ahead of Modern Warfare 4’s release later this year.
Meanwhile, For The King 2 is a roguelike RPG that blends turn-based combat, tabletop-inspired mechanics, and online co-op as players lead a party to overthrow a tyrannical queen. Finally, CrossCode is a retro-inspired action RPG with fast-paced combat, Zelda-like dungeons, and challenging puzzles, all set to a sci-fi story set inside a fictional MMORPG. It’s widely regarded as one of the best indie RPGs of the last decade and could become a hidden gem for PS Plus subscribers.

2 PS Plus Premium Games Are Confirmed for July and August
- Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy (PS Plus Premium – July)
- Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams (PS Plus Premium – August)
At the June State of Play, PS Plus confirmed a handful of games coming to the Premium tier—including the recently added Gitaroo Man. Now, Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy will join the tier on July 15, while Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams will join in mid-August. Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy is a cult-classic PS2 action game that mixes third-person shooting with telekinesis, mind control, and other psychic abilities that let players manipulate enemies and the environment.
Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams is the fourth entry in the hardcore feudal Japan action game series, which similar to Modern Warfare 3, is no doubt joining the service ahead of the next entry’s release. Onimusha: Way of the Sword releases in September 2026, giving fans a few weeks to check out Dawn of Dreams again or if they haven’t.

Day-One PS Plus Free (Essential Game) Confirmed for August
- Big Walk (PS Plus Essential)
Big Walk was confirmed as a day-one PS Plus game earlier this year, although its August 4 release date was not revealed until June 2026. As such, fans can expect it to be reaffirmed in late July as a PS Plus free game for August. As to what it is, Big Walk is a co-op game from the same studio as Untitled Goose Game, except this one is almost like if Peak and Baby Steps had a child together. There’s a huge focus on communication as players explore the world and solve puzzles together.
- RuneScape: Dragonwilds (PS Plus Extra)
Finally, RuneScape: Dragonwilds releases in 1.0 on PC and consoles, including the PS5, as a day-one PS Plus Extra game on September 15. Not only will this be the first time the franchise is available on the console in its long history, but it will also add a bunch more content for the release date. On top of that, RuneScape: Dragonwilds recently got a massive update in Umbral Sands that added even more content ahead of time.
If anyone is unfamiliar, RuneScape: Dragonwilds is an open-world survival-crafting game that reimagines the RuneScape universe with resource gathering, base building, magic, and dragon-filled exploration for solo players or co-op groups. And yes, it’s not the first time I’ve said this, nor will it be the last, but I fully expect RuneScape: Dragonwilds to make massive waves in the co-op game space on PS Plus.
