A Stardew Valley-esque game called Starsand Island is coming to the PlayStation 5 in August, and the best part is that it has already found success on other platforms. Starsand Island originally launched in early access on Xbox and Steam in February 2026, and the PlayStation 5 version was planned to arrive alongside its full release, which now has a release date.
Starsand Island is known by many fans as an anime-style Stardew Valley game. It features a cozy island where players can build a farmhouse and choose from a variety of professions to pursue. The good news for PlayStation 5 users is that Starsand Island already has an average user rating of over 80% positive on Steam, showing it is already popular among PC players.

The digital release of Starsand Island 1.0 is scheduled for August 18, 2026, at 5:00 AM PDT. Later, on November 12, the cozy farming sim will also receive a physical PS5 edition that comes with a disc rather than a digital code. The new release will also add an online multiplayer feature to Starsand Island, allowing four players to build their farm together.

Developer Seed Sparkle Lab has confirmed that the physical PS5 edition of Starsand Island will cost $39.99 USD.
In Starsand Island, players can experience most of Stardew Valley‘s cornerstone gameplay features, albeit with 3D anime-style visuals. These include farming, fishing, foraging, mining, cooking, crafting, and combat. One area where Starsand Island differs from ConcernedApe’s life sim is its extensive house and farm customization options. Many players argue that building a dream home in Starsand Island actually feels more like The Sims 4.
As GameRant’s Josh Cotts has pointed out, “Developer Seed Sparkle Lab has released a steady stream of updates fixing broken quests, disappearing or motionless NPCs, malfunctioning festivals, Moonlit Forest freezes, building errors, inaccessible items, animal behavior, controller issues, and countless other problems.” The 1.0 version is therefore expected to be the most polished edition, making Starsand Island a game worth picking up at its price point.
Pre-orders for the physical edition of Starsand Island on PS5 are already open. However, there are currently no pre-orders available for the digital edition of the game on the PlayStation Store. According to some third-party listings, pre-ordering the physical edition will reward players with a brand-new Starsand Island vehicle called “Aetheris.” However, official announcements have not mentioned such a bonus, and it appears to be exclusive to users in select regions.
PS5 Users Have Another Cozy Game to Keep an Eye On
Starsand Island isn’t the only upcoming PS5 game that cozy life sim fans should wishlist. Another game called Farming Camp has already caught the attention of many fans of the genre, with its playable demo receiving rave reviews. Farming Camp is set to release on September 24, approximately a month after Starsand Island‘s global launch.
