The PlayStation 5 is gearing up for a ridiculous hot streak of major new game releases that should keep gamers on the platform plenty busy for the rest of the year. It’s hard to believe, but the PS5 will be turning six this year, and while there has been some criticism aimed at its exclusives output compared to its predecessor, there’s no denying that it has built an incredible library of games.
The vast majority of major new game releases are readily available on PS5, and that is apparent looking at the lineup. Starting the last week of August and stretching all the way through December, the PS5 is about to go on an astonishing hot streak of new game releases, many of which have potential to be some of the biggest and best of the entire year.

Before August is over, PS5 gamers can look forward to three big games all releasing on the same day. August 27 is going to be super busy for PS5 gamers, as that’s when Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, and Star Wars Zero Company all drop on the same day. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 sees the long-awaited debut of MGS4 on anything other than a PS3, while Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is a promising action-RPG that serves as a prequel to the Plague Tale games. Star Wars Zero Company, meanwhile, looks like XCOM meets Star Wars, and it has a great deal of hype among turn-based tactics fans hungry for a new XCOM-style experience.
September is when the new PS5 releases get really wild, with a nonstop assault of major new releases. These include Marvel’s Wolverine, a pure PS5 exclusive superhero game from Spider-Man series developer Insomniac Games, as well as Silent Hill: Townfall, a new horror game that is console exclusive on PS5.
September definitely takes the cake for the busiest month of new game releases in all of 2026, but October is no slouch. Phantom Blade Zero releases for PS5 at the end of that month, and it will be preceded by heavy hitters like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Final Fantasy Resonance, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, and Star Wars: Galactic Racer, among other games.
The PS5 hot streak of new game releases will slow down significantly in November, but the month is boosted by the fact that it’s home to what will perhaps be the biggest new video game release of all time. Barring any last-minute delays, Grand Theft Auto 6 will release for PS5 on November 19. And while it may currently be the only major new PS5 game confirmed for November, it will quickly be followed by some notable releases in December, with Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World and Attack on Titan 3 launching to help close out the year.
