Red Dead Redemption 2 Players Have New Reasons to Play This Week

Red Dead Redemption 2 Players Have New Reasons to Play This Week

Last week saw the start of Red Dead Redemption 2‘s Naturalist event, and there are some major rewards on offer for anyone jumping in over the next few days. Much like past Red Dead Redemption 2 online events, players can expect to receive some massive XP boosts and some greatly increased payouts for completing specific missions and free roam activities.

While it’s never quite reached the monumental heights of its Los Santos-set sibling, Red Dead Redemption 2‘s online mode has still managed to maintain a sizable audience over the past seven years, and that’s thanks in no small part to Rockstar’s continued support. Over those seven years, Red Dead Redemption 2 has received several major updates, with some of the biggest adding new Roles to the game that reward players more efficiently for completing themed missions and activities. These major updates have often been accompanied over the years by a plethora of seasonal events that offer major reductions on store items, free cosmetics, and bonus XP.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Fans are Divided on Arthur Casting Choice

Fans of wild west epic Red Dead Redemption 2 have mixed opinions on casting choices for the role of Arthur Morgan in a live-action adaptation.

While Red Dead Redemption 2 has stopped receiving major expansions, Rockstar still offers regular in-game events. The latest of these is Red Dead Redemption 2‘s Naturalist event, which began on May 5 and will run until June 1. The narrative backdrop of this month-long event sees Harriet Davenport seeking assistance from players to help classify rare wild animals, while Gus Macmillan wants players to help him hunt down these same creatures. Completing any Wildlife Photographer or Wild Animal Kills Challenge free roam event during the month will reward players with 4x Red Dead Online cash and XP. Completing one Wildlife Photographer mission will also reward players with the blue Guerra Poncho cosmetic.

Another incredibly lucrative event this month is Red Dead Redemption 2‘s Featured Series. From May 12 up until May 18, any player who participates in an Open Target Race will receive 4x cash, gold, and XP, and those who participate in the Overrun Series will receive a 3x bonus. To help gain the edge in these Red Dead Redemption 2 horse races, players can make the most of a limited-time 40% discount on Arabian and Missouri Fox Trotter horses and their best saddles. The Featured Series will continue throughout the month of May, but will focus on a new event each week, with May 19–25 focusing on Race Series 2, and May 26–June 1 focusing on Target Races and Capture Mode Series.

A series of Red Dead Redemption 2 weekly challenges will also rotate throughout the month, the completion of which will grant players in-game currency and access to special cosmetic offers. This week (May 12–18), players who complete three daily challenges will receive an offer for 50% off an Established or Distinguished Naturalist Role item. These weekly challenges are joined by a handful of clothing items that are returning for a limited time, such as the Benbow Jacket and the Morning Tail Coat.

This latest Red Dead Redemption 2 event is also giving players access to a full community-inspired cosmetic set. This set includes the Western Homburg Hat, the Everyday Shirt, the Ribbon Tie, the Paisley Vest, the Padded Saddle Work Pants, and the Sportman’s Boots, all of which can be claimed completely for free via the in-game Wheeler, Rawson & Co. catalogue.
