Following the surprise release of Leon Must Die Forever, Resident Evil Requiem fans aren’t happy about the hatcet. The new Resident Evil Requiem mini-game is a roguelike mode featuring Leon S. Kennedy that challenges players to go through every level and reach the final battle within a time limit and without dying.
Resident Evil Requiem received praise for having two distinct gameplay styles between Leon and new character Grace Ashcroft to effectively show their individual combat experiences. Leon’s sections are more action-packed, while Grace’s are slower and scarier. Leon’s inventory is also larger than Grace’s, which gives him more space to carry different types of ammo and healing items.

Resident Evil Requiem Fans Have a Problem With Leon Must Die Forever’s Hatchet Repair
In Leon Must Die Forever, fans are given the opportunity to replay campaign stages as just Leon. Since shadow-dropping on May 8th, the Resident Evil Requiem mini-game has received mixed reviews from players, most of whom were expecting a Mercenaries mode. It seems fans have another issue with the mini-game: not being able to sharpen Leon’s hatchet to repair it quickly. A Reddit post from user Independent-Frequent detailed how frustrating it is that Leon Must Die Forever doesn’t allow Leon to sharpen the hatchet, making it more difficult to trigger close-range, instakill attacks without damaging or destroying the weapon. The fan further pointed out how they have no choice but to use their gun against certain enemies because they don’t want to waste their hatchet.

In the comment section, Resident Evil Requiem fans agreed that they initially found it odd that they couldn’t sharpen Leon’s hatchet when they started playing the mini-game. However, they also understood that it’s meant to make the mini-game more challenging, since it’s a roguelike with randomized weapons and perks. Many noted that removing the ability to sharpen the hatchet on command encourages the player to be more resourceful in Leon Must Die Forever.
How to Repair the Hatchet in Leon Must Die Forever
- Pick up Hatchet Repair from boxes and boss arenas
- Check the Ability Enhancer for Hatchet Repair
- Grab the Parry Recovery ability, which fixes 40% of the hatchet’s durability when players pull off a perfect parry. However, this is useless if the weapon is already broken.
It’s understandable why Resident Evil Requiem fans are having a hard time without the hatchet sharpening feature in Leon Must Die Forever because of the permadeath feature. However, it’s also meant to challenge Resident Evil Requiem players to come up with the best strategies to beat Leon Must Die Forever before the timer runs out.
Fit the 9 games into the grid.
Apart from Leon Must Die Forever, Capcom has more Resident Evil Requiem content in the pipeline. The next DLC is still in development, which is said to expand Resident Evil Requiem‘s story further. It doesn’t have an official release date yet, but fans might be in for a treat if the DLC brings back characters from previous Resident Evil games.
