Resident Evil Requiem Players Spot Funny Oversight With the Requiem Gun

Following the release of the acclaimed Resident Evil Requiem, players have noticed a funny oversight with the Requiem weapon. Resident Evil Requiem was released less than a month ago to a fantastic reception from critics and players alike, already selling over 6 million copies. The juxtaposing gameplay styles of Grace’s immersive horror and Leon’s intense action sequences were labeled as brilliant. This was in large part thanks to the concept of returning to Grace’s previously completed sections with Leon’s military-grade weapon arsenal. These gameplay styles also allow both characters to use the namesake of the game, the Requiem gun.

The Requiem revolver is an early acquisition in the latest Resident Evil title, being handed from Leon to Grace following the brief tutorial sections and maintaining importance in the game’s overall story. It instantly proves its power and value by completely decimating the first enemy it’s used on, along with leaving Grace shocked by the immense force. Despite the ammo being sparse, an issue easily resolved by unlocking infinite ammo, the gun serves as a perfect companion for insanity difficulty or any of the other challenge runs. Although players can use the Resident Evil Requiem Amiibo to unlock cosmetics for the Requiem, a cosmetic issue with the weapon seems to have been left in as an oversight.

The Requiem Gun Doesn’t Reload Accurately

Reddit user Rude-Membership5109 posted in the Resident Evil Requiem subreddit regarding something they had noticed with the Requiem gun. They fired once from the weapon and then reloaded, leaving the top bullet missing and confusion for the user, as the Requiem is a bottom-firing magnum. This means that upon a reload, the bottom bullet should have been missing, yet an oversight by Capcom leaves this not being the reality. Another user noted that tapping a weapon’s extractor plunger will dump all bullets from the cylinder, yet in Resident Evil Requiem, only the fired bullets are released. With Resident Evil Requiem setting a sales record for the franchise, these minor inaccuracies don’t seem to matter to the vast majority of gamers.

With the Resident Evil series having superpowered humans, bosses that take the form of dragons, and all other manner of unbelievable elements, these slight cosmetic issues are easily overlooked by the community. The franchise has never been about realism, but rather using a combination of science and the supernatural to instill lifelong horror into players. With one of the most beloved characters in the series, Leon S. Kennedy, opting for theatrical backflips away from chainsaws or pulling funny one-liners in the most serious situations, this cosmetic inconsistency with the Requiem gun is arguably right in place.

With Resident Evil Requiem recently having another small update to implement minor fixes, a future update to alter the Requiem gun’s reload wouldn’t be out of the question. On the other hand, perhaps Capcom will leave this oversight in the game. The post-launch future of Resident Evil Requiem is certainly looking bright, with a new mini-game planned for a May 2026 release, along with a much-needed photo mode. The biggest announcement about the game’s future is a story expansion, which began development shortly after launch and will likely answer the questions players were left with. Despite the small cosmetic oversight, Resident Evil Requiem is turning into one of the franchise’s best games, with only more great content to come.
