Those who have been excited about more Resident Evil Requiem content might have to wait longer than expected if recent leaks turn out to be true. Resident Evil Requiem brought a new story to life with Leon Kennedy and newcomer Grace Ashcroft, and Capcom recently confirmed that the story isn’t quite over yet.
Back in March, it was revealed that the game’s developers are now working on a Resident Evil Requiem story DLC. As exciting as that is for fans, it has raised the big question of when exactly the expansion will be released. Neither Capcom nor game director Koshi Nakanishi have offered any insight into when the story DLC is expected to be ready, and a new leak could be bad news for gamers who were hoping to see the next chapter of Leon and Grace’s journey this year.

Capcom’s Resident Evil is the definitive horror franchise, but the games are not equally scary. RE7, Village, RE4, and Requiem are top contenders.
New Leak Claims That Resident Evil Requiem’s Story DLC Won’t Arrive Until Next Year
Well-known leaker Dusk Golem took to Twitter to claim that the Resident Evil Requiem expansion wouldn’t launch until after Resident Evil Veronica‘s release. The long-awaited remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica was one of the biggest announcements at this year’s Summer Game Fest, and it finally put to rest years of rumors and speculation about the game’s existence. The Resident Evil Veronica trailer was a compelling teaser, and it even revealed that the remake would arrive sometime in 2027.

There’s no way to know the exact Resident Evil Veronica release date until Capcom makes an announcement, but the past few years of the franchise have seen both mainline entries and remakes launch between the months of January and May. If that’s the case, the wait for Requiem‘s DLC could be as far away as May 2027. A new Resident Evil Requiem game mode called Leon Must Die Forever was recently shadow dropped, but it has received mixed reviews from players. Leon Must Die Forever is a challenging roguelike mode, so it might not scratch the itch for fans who have craved more story.
It’s important to remember that Dusk Golem’s claims should be taken with a grain of salt. Leaks can be compelling, but that doesn’t automatically make them accurate. There have been several Resident Evil Requiem DLC rumors since the game’s launch, as the ending left a lot of lingering questions unanswered. The anticipated story expansion might not answer all of them, but the potential to get at least a few answers has many fans eager for more.

Right now, the future of Resident Evil Requiem is up in the air. At least one story DLC feels inevitable, but only time will tell if it actually releases this year or the next. The 2026 game calendar is quickly becoming crowded, and Capcom may not want to drop a DLC when there is so much on the horizon that could overshadow it. Also, Resident Evil Veronica could reignite interest in the franchise that a Requiem DLC could easily capitalize on. Capcom’s plans are unclear, but it’s going to be interesting to see if this new leak holds any weight.
