The 30th anniversary of the Diablo franchise has heralded a new era for Diablo 2: Resurrected with the surprise reveal and release of the Reign of the Warlock DLC. Not only is this the first new Diablo 2 content released in 25 years, but it completely flips the gameplay script of the classic ARPG with the Warlock class’ unique brand of combat. Part of what makes the Warlock so unique from other Diablo 2 classes is its ability to control demons with ancient Vizjerei magic, essentially turning the game into a creature collector like Pokemon.
Not only is the Warlock class available now for Diablo 2: Resurrected players to enjoy, but the class is also coming to Diablo 4 with the release of Lord of Hatred, and will join the Diablo Immortal line-up in Summer 2026 as well. With the Warlock being a brand-new class to the Diablo franchise, it’s fitting that it would debut in Diablo 2: Resurrected to set the stage for what players can expect from the class across the series. Getting to battle through Sanctuary using bound demons like Pokemon is a completely new experience that veteran Diablo players need to experience, and Diablo 2: Resurrected allows players to pull off some crazy builds using this skill.

Diablo 2: Resurrected’s Warlock Lets Players ‘Catch’ Demons with Bind Demon
One of the Warlock’s skill trees in Diablo 2: Resurrected is the Demon Tree, and it is all about summoning and controlling demons in battle. Aside from skills like Summon Goatman, Summon Tainted, and Summon Defilers, the Warlock’s Demon skill tree is also home to the Bind Demon skill. This skill lets players capture basically any demon in the game that isn’t an Act Boss like Andariel or Duriel, and then use them in one of two ways.

Diablo 2 Players Can Control Some Insanely Powerful Demons
Included in the list of bindable demons in Diablo 2: Resurrected are several Super Unique monsters that represent some of the most powerful demons the Warlock can utilize. Monsters like Hephasto the Armorer and Infector of Souls can be controlled by the Warlock and sent out to slay enemy demons as the player traverses Sanctuary throughout Diablo 2: Resurrected‘s 5 Acts. Super Uniques in Diablo 2 are great for Warlocks to capture, not only for their power, but because they have fixed spawns and are easier to find rather than trying to find a specific demon type off of a random spawn.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like The Cow King can be bound by the Warlock, so there isn’t much reason for players to visit the Secret Cow Level in Diablo 2 to try and catch him.
Diablo 2’s Demons Come with Two Ways to Use Them
Bind Demon Warlock builds in Diablo 2: Resurrected are very versatile, since there are basically 2 options for using a bound demon: having them fight alongside the Warlock or consuming them for a buff. Having a bound demon fight alongside the Warlock puts the player in a more passive role, allowing them to use skills like Death Mark and Engorge to support their demons during combat. On the other hand, consuming a demon grants the Warlock a temporary passive buff such as an elemental resistance, and some Super Uniques can even grant multiple buffs.
Demons bound by the Warlock will remain as such until consumed or killed, and players can have up to 3 bound demons at a time with the skill at Level 20.

There are several notable demons worth centering a Diablo 2: Resurrected Warlock build around binding, depending on what the player’s goal is. For players looking to have a demon act as their minion and battle in their stead, Hephasto is the best option available. The combination of passives he comes with makes him a powerful tank that can clear most enemies with ease. Hephasto can be found in Diablo 2: Resurrected Act 4 guarding the Hellforge at the River of Flame.
Another great option for offense is Ismail Vilehand, since he comes with the Cursed passive that gives him the chance to cast Amplify Damage, greatly buffing physical Warlock builds in Diablo 2: Resurrected. Ismail Vilehand is one of the Council of Zakarum that players encounter at the Durance of Hate in Act 3. Additionally, any Shaman enemy makes for a good offensive demon to bind since they have the ability to summon and revive their own minions, allowing players a loophole to have up to 6 demons.
For players wanting to consume demons for buffs, two options that stand out are Lister the Tormentor and Bishibosh.Consuming Lister gives Diablo 2 Warlocks enhanced damage, a 25% Physical Damage reduction, and a meditation aura that gives the player fast mana regeneration. Meanwhile, Bishibosh is great for Fire Warlock builds, since consuming him grants the player an increased Fire Resistance, increased Maximum Resistance, and Fire Pierce to help the Warlock deal Fire damage to enemies with high Fire Resistance themselves.
