A Lot of Tomodachi Life Players Seem Disappointed With Living the Dream

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is the long-awaited successor to 2013’s Tomodachi Life, but it seems like a lot of players have already run through the game’s content. With the main purpose of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream being all about taking care of an island full of Miis and watching their lives unfold, running out of things to do this early on has troubled some fans.

It’s been over a decade since the last Tomodachi Life game. For many, Tomodachi Life is one of the best Nintendo 3DS games of all time, so there have been some high expectations ahead of Living the Dream‘s launch. While Living the Dream has upgraded many of the features that made Tomodachi Life so much fun in the first place, a decent number of players have found themselves at the end of the road way sooner than they anticipated.

One dedicated Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream player makes all 30 starter Pokemon into Miis without the aid of the Face Paint tool.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Players Are Surprised About the Game’s Lack of Content

Reddit user ChesnaughtZ took to the game’s subreddit and expressed their confusion about already being done unlocking the game’s content. Unlocking content in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is a pretty big part of the experience, so ChesnaughtZ was disappointed to find out that there isn’t really anything else for them to achieve. Their main criticism after hitting this point in the game is that everything that has been collected still isn’t enough to make the island “feel alive.” This is subjective, but they aren’t the only player who feels this way.

At the time of writing this article, ChesnaughtZ’s post has amassed 2,000 upvotes from fans who are facing the same problem. When it comes to buildings and quirks, the game has left plenty of players finding themselves wanting a lot more. Of course, there are ways to expand Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream‘s island, but vocal fans are craving deeper content, not more size.

Comments on ChesnaughtZ’s post have brought up several ways that the game’s features can be improved. Additional buildings, like theaters and dance clubs, are on some fans’ wish lists. Tomodachi Life‘s Concert Hall not returning is one of the biggest surprises to many players. Another feature that disappointed fans would like to see added later is the ability to customize Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream‘s Mii personalities to be even more detailed. Some think the number of possible quirk options could be expanded on a lot more than what they are.

Other players have been quick to point out that the game can be more entertaining once the island is filled with enough unique Miis. Watching their daily lives unfold into strange shenanigans is the central focus of the game. This is where Tomodachi Life differs from games like Animal Crossing, as it’s a more hands-off style of gameplay. Both views are valid, though. Since it’s still so early in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream‘s post-launch life, there is also the possibility that more content will eventually arrive down the road. This remains to be seen, but the game still has plenty of time to add updates that make it more satisfying for players.
