Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, one of the more anticipated single-player games in recent years, has been delayed once again. The game was first announced in 2021, with its initial cast being teased nearly a year later. Part of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra‘s pre-release fame comes from Amy Hennig leading the project. She is best known as the creator of the Uncharted series, widely regarded as one of the most acclaimed third-person adventure franchises of all time.
This is not the first time Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has been delayed. In May 2025, the game was pushed to early 2026 for “further polish.” In November of the same year, it was confirmed that the new deadline would not be met. However, now that we are six months into 2026, the project has delivered yet another disappointing update to fans.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra Is Playable, and It Looks Like the Trailers, Paramount Executive Says
In a recent interview with IGN, Paramount Games Studio senior vice president Shawn Kittelsen confirmed that Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is still in active development. However, given the game’s AAA scope and the fact that only a small team of developers is working on it, fans should not expect a release until at least 2027. Despite the disappointing update, Kittelsen also shared some encouraging news. For one, he assured fans that the game looks just like what was shown in previous trailers for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. He also confirmed that the game already has a playable build.

“It’s on my hard drive right now. So, I can go through and play the build,” Kittelsen said to IGN. He also explained that Amy Hennig and her team have ambitious plans for the project, and that Paramount Games Studio is willing to give them “enough time to cook.” Kittelsen also noted that Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is being made with “a fraction of the resources [spent] on other AAA games.”
During the same interview, Kittelsen admitted that the development team’s initial schedule may have been too ambitious. He said, “[Those plans] didn’t take into account all the things that can disrupt production.” Now that Paramount Games Studio is overseeing development, the focus has shifted toward quality, giving the team more time and setting more realistic deadlines. “[The] game will come out when it’s ready,” Kittelsen concluded.
The Paramount executive also said the company’s gaming division is currently prioritizing the completion and release of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, suggesting that some other projects, including the untitled Star Wars game, may be slowed or paused for now. “One thing at a time, and we’ll address Star Wars, talk about that when 1943 is finished,” he said.
For now, it appears that Marvel fans who have been waiting for Rise of Hydra‘s release will need to wait at least another year. On the positive side, the extended development timeline could ensure a more polished final product that lives up to its AAA label and avoids joining the list of highly anticipated games that ultimately fell short of expectations.
