Rockstar Games has officially changed the date when Grand Theft Auto 6 fans can pre-order the game. Grand Theft Auto 6 is shaping up to be one of the biggest new game releases of all time. The highly-anticipated open world game is also going to massive itself, with a beefy file size to match. Needless to say, there are many fans that will want to pre-load GTA 6 so they can get in on the action immediately come launch.
Matching previous reports about the GTA 6 file size, it’s now been confirmed that the game will require 212 GB of storage space. This makes GTA 6 comfortably one of the biggest games on PlayStation or Xbox by file size, taking up a healthy chunk of internal storage. Internet speeds have gotten faster over the years, but that’s still nothing to sneeze at, and so GTA 6 fans may want to pre-load so there isn’t any extra waiting around when the game finally launches on Thursday, November 19.
When Can You Pre-Load GTA 6?
- PS5: Tuesday, November 10 at midnight local time
- Xbox: Tuesday, November 10 at 12 a.m. GMT globally
Previously, it was said that the GTA 6 pre-load date would be November 12, a full week before the game launches. Now Rockstar has announced that the GTA 6 pre-load date is actually Tuesday, November 10. The digital pre-load times differ depending on platform. On PS5, digital pre-loads start at midnight local time on November 10, while Xbox Series X/S pre-loads start globally at 12 a.m. GMT. Rockstar also confirmed that it would be releasing its code-in-box versions of GTA 6, the game’s controversial disc-less “physical” release, on November 12, so those that purchase that way will also have time to pre-load.
When one goes to pre-order GTA 6, they have a couple of different versions to choose from. The standard version of GTA 6 costs $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition retails for $100. The GTA 6 Ultimate Edition comes with some exclusive outfits, vehicles, and store access, so for hardcore fans, it may very well be worth it to upgrade. However, the $80 version of GTA 6 will still come with the vast majority of content and so fans shouldn’t feel like they’re missing out too much by not springing for the Ultimate Edition.
Those that pre-order any versions of the game will be entitled to some nice GTA 6 pre-order bonuses. Those that pre-order will get the Vintage Vice City Pack, which comes with a two-tone ’55 Stanier sedan and Ocean Beach garage, plus 80s-themed outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, and an exclusive weapon pattern. Additionally, GTA 6 pre-orders come with a free month of Rockstar’s GTA+ subscription service. GTA+ comes with cash for GTA Online, discounts on in-game items, and access to some classic Rockstar Games titles.
As far as GTA 6‘s own online multiplayer mode goes, that has yet to be officially revealed. The latest information suggests that GTA 6 online won’t be available until some point in 2027, and so fans should brace themselves for a long wait. Still, the single-player content in GTA 6 sounds significant enough that there should be plenty to tide fans over until the doors are opened on the inevitable online multiplayer mode.
