An upcoming Bethesda game planned for release on the Nintendo Switch 2 has allegedly been canceled, according to a credible insider. Bethesda has already released a handful of titles for Nintendo’s latest console, including Switch 2 ports of popular games like The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. However, it’s beginning to sound less and less likely that a Starfield port ever comes to Switch 2.
The dramatically more powerful Switch 2 has received several third-party ports that would have been nearly impossible on its predecessor. Games like Cyberpunk 2077, Resident Evil Requiem, and Final Fantasy 7 Remake all showcase just how well the Nintendo console can compete with its PlayStation and Xbox rivals. Even with more impressive hardware, it’s still a tall order to get some more graphically intensive games to run on the Switch 2, which may be the case with a Starfield port.
Insider Claims Starfield Switch 2 Port is Likely Canceled
According to reliable leaker NateTheHate on Twitter, the development of a Starfield Switch 2 port has faced numerous obstacles and has likely been shelved for the time being. Starfield has been rumored to be getting a Switch 2 port since August 2025, with rumors ramping up in March of this year, shortly before the launch of the Starfield PS5 port. However, nothing official was ever announced, and even the rumors of this release have started to die down.

NateTheHate goes on to note that they wouldn’t be surprised if the port was canceled entirely, which corroborates what other leakers have said. Fellow insider Shinobi602 has stated that the Starfield Switch 2 has faced several internal delays and may never come out at all. Despite other large Bethesda RPGs like Oblivion Remastered and Fallout 4 hitting the Switch 2, it’s unlikely at this point that Switch 2 port of Starfield will ever see the light of day.
Although Starfield released on PS5 earlier this year along with the Terran Armada expansion and Free Lanes update, interest in Bethesda’s spacefaring sci-fi RPG has been waning. Starfield sales on PS5 were reportedly underwhelming, and a former Bethesda developer has gone on record stating they would be very surprised if a Starfield 2 ever happened. Given the alleged development struggles on this Starfield Switch 2 port, it may not be worth the effort to release a game that won’t have the audience Bethesda hopes it will on the Switch 2.
Much of Bethesda’s attention has likely already shifted away from Starfield and onto other projects as well. Development of The Elder Scrolls 6 is in full swing, with the game said to be targeting a late 2027 or 2028 release window. Bethesda has also doubled down on the Fallout series after treading water with Fallout 76 for years. Remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are confirmed to be in development, along with a brand-new Fallout game from Obsidian Entertainment. It’s unclear which of these projects will get Nintendo Switch 2 releases, but both The Elder Scrolls and Fallout series have a healthy presence on the console.
