Scott Pilgrim EX will hit the market on March 3, Tribute Games has confirmed. The release date announcement arrived alongside a new gameplay trailer that also revealed two more Scott Pilgrim EX fighters.

Scott Pilgrim EX is a new co-op brawler that was originally announced at Summer Game Fest 2025. Developed by Montreal-based Tribute Games, it promises a quest-based and partially non-linear experience, lots of flashy fighting, and new music by Anamanaguchi, with creator Bryan Lee O’Malley contributing to the story. Tribute Games previously revealed the game would have seven playable characters at launch, but while only identifying four—Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers, Lucas Lee, and Roxie Richter—leaving room for more reveals.

A new batch of Scott Pilgrim EX info has now materialized in the form of the game’s latest trailer, which premiered on January 28. The promo video commits to a concrete release date for the co-op brawler, stating that fans can expect it on March 3. It also reveals two more playable fighters: Matthew Patel and Robot-01. Patel brings theatrical, crowd-control flair to the mix, offerings summons, flame bursts, and dramatic finishers reflective of the game’s emphasis on showy, momentum-driven combat. Robot-01 counters with speed and screen control, using thrusters, mid-fight morphs, and explosive projectile barrages to clear lanes or set up team combos.

Scott Pilgrim EX is set to debut simultaneously on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Tribute Games says physical editions are “coming soon” and has teased one final ally reveal ahead of launch. The game has been available for wishlisting on Steam since mid-2025. While Tribute has not yet confirmed pricing, the studio’s previous releases suggest a retail price in the ballpark of $29.99 being likely. The Canadian developer is positioning Scott Pilgrim EX s a standalone adventure that builds on the franchise’s history while embracing open-map brawling and multiplayer mechanics reminiscent of the fan-favorite Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game.

Scott Pilgrim EX sends players across a city split by rival factions, armed with weapons and character-specific toolkits, which can even be upgraded. On a fundamental level, the brawler offers a “fight, explore, repeat” gameplay loop rooted in classic beat ’em ups. Its digital rendition of Toronto features heavily interconnected areas that reward curiosity. Instead of following a strict level-by-level structure, the game is built around quests and free movement between districts. Players can take on different objectives, discover hidden areas, and upgrade their characters through badges and stat boosts, adding more variety and replay value than a traditional arcade-style brawler.

The design also supports up to four-player co-op, both locally and online, allowing friends to explore and fight together. Environmental weapons and distinct character abilities encourage teamwork and experimentation, while the more open layout gives players flexibility in how they approach each section of the city. The story of Scott Pilgrim EX centers on the kidnapping of Sex Bob-omb and the theft of their instruments, sending Scott, Ramona, and their allies on a citywide rescue mission filled with demons, robots, and other familiar threats. Tribute has emphasized that the campaign will include optional side activities, hidden challenges, and nods to past Scott Pilgrim games and comics, giving longtime fans extra incentives to fully explore each district and revisit areas as their characters grow stronger.

Tribute has also stressed that every fighter will have a full move set available from the start, with progression focused more on customization than unlocking basic abilities. Players can spend coins to tweak stats and equip special items—such as badges that grant bonuses—so builds can evolve over time even if the core combat tools are immediately available.
