Sony recently issued a statement on the current state of its PlayStation Plus subscriptions service, confirming that it plans to engage players by improving the service and funneling players towards higher subscriptions tiers. In the 2025 fiscal year, Sony boasted record profits for its gaming division, despite a decline in first-party PlayStation game sales. Part of the success of the company in the past fiscal year has been attributed to the growth of Sony’s PlayStation Plus service.
Sony Promises to Improve its PlayStation Plus Service in the Coming Year
Confirmed in Sony’s latest financial report, the company plans to double-down on its PlayStation Plus offerings, aiming to grow the service by continually improving its content to keep subscribers engaged. The statement reads:
“Sony is focused on driving profitable growth of PS Plus by increasing user engagement and continuously improving its service proposition and content, as well as inviting users to shift to higher tiers.”
Currently, PlayStation Plus offers three different subscription tiers, each offering a different level of content in addition to online multiplayer services. Pricing ranges from $10.99 per month to $19.99 per month, making PS Plus a solid value and enticing competitor to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass.
