The Switch 2 debut of Star Fox has topped the physical sales charts of at least one notable region, according to sales figures posted on June 29. As of this writing, the latest entry in the Star Fox series bested other titles, including 007 First Light and Resident Evil Requiem, to close out June’s physical sales.
The Switch 2 release of Star Fox is a remake of 1997’s Star Fox 64, which in turn was a reboot of the original Star Fox released on the SNES in early 1993. Star Fox 64 was ported to the 3DS in July 2011 and was remade as Star Fox Zero for the Wii U in April 2016. While the story of Star Fox 64 has been retold for three decades now, the Switch 2’s take on Star Fox is stated to be a reboot of the entire franchise to date. Star Fox‘s Switch 2 version also marked the debut of a new character art style.

Star Fox Tops Physical Sales Charts in the UK
Although Star Fox reviews have been mixed, that has not stopped Nintendo’s latest first-party title from debuting to strong physical sales. As reported by Nintendo Life, Star Fox topped the UK’s weekly physical sales charts to close out June. While exact figures were not revealed, Star Fox debuted at the number one spot ahead of multiplatform games like EA Sports FC 26 and Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition. Other entries in the top 10 included 007 First Light, Football Manager 26, and Resident Evil Requiem. As for other Nintendo first-party offerings, both Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream and Pokemon Pokopia cracked the top 10, while Mario Kart World just barely missed out at the 11th spot. The UK’s top 10 physical sales charts were rounded out by LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight and Resident Evil 3.

The success of Star Fox‘s physical game sales in the UK came despite Nintendo’s own push to make first-party digital games cheaper. With the launch of Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, digital first-party Nintendo releases are $10 cheaper than the physical versions. Star Fox‘s debut prices are no different, which are currently set at $49.99 digitally and $59.99 physically, or £41.99 and £49.99 respectively in the UK.
The physical sales figures for the UK were calculated across multiple retailers during the last full week of June 2026. Along with Star Fox, other titles like the highly-anticipated Deltarune Chapter 5, Dead or Alive 6 Last Round, and the Switch 2 port of Destroy All Humans! were released from June 21 to 28. According to the UK Nintendo Store, physical copies of Star Fox are currently sold out. It is unclear when restocking will happen, so Switch 2 players across the UK must wait for more information.
Sales figures from other regions were not revealed as of this writing. Despite the apparent success of Star Fox in the UK, Nintendo still faces a looming Switch 2 price increase in the coming weeks. With the Switch 2 set to become more expensive across the globe, time will tell how physical and digital game sales for Nintendo’s first-party titles will be affected in the long run.
