Star Fox is officially coming back on Switch 2, but anyone hoping for a bunch of different pre-order bonuses or special editions should know right away that this looks like a fairly straightforward release. Right now, there are no confirmed pre-order bonuses or premium editions of the game. Instead, players have the simple decision to make of whether they want to purchase Star Fox, and if they do, whether they will go with a physical copy or the digital edition.
There are still a few details worth going over, though. Star Fox launches exclusively for Switch 2 on June 25, 2026, and the digital version is listed at $49.99, while the physical version is generally $59.99 at most major retailers. Some stores may end up being better options than others, however, and My Nintendo Store UK actually does have a couple of physical bonus items available with purchase of the game. For U.S. buyers, on the other hand, this is mostly a standard edition release without anything extra.
Star Fox’s Remake is Cool and All, But an Even Older Nintendo Series Deserved a Revival First
Nintendo’s recently unveiled Star Fox remake might be fun or disappointing, but either way, another Nintendo series should have returned first.
Each Star Fox Edition and Its Price
Star Fox isn’t getting a long list of different editions, and considering its launch is right around the corner, it isn’t likely to receive any beforehand. For now, the Switch 2 exclusive is split between the standard digital version and the standard physical version, with the main differences being price and convenience.

Star Fox Switch 2 Editions and Pricing
- Physical Edition – $59.99
- Digital Edition – $49.99
Star Fox appears to be stopping at $59.99 for its physical version, likely because it’s a remake of Star Fox 64 rather than a fully original new entry. Considering some major Switch 2 releases have already moved into the $70 or $80 range, Star Fox is at least coming in on the lower end of Nintendo’s current first-party pricing.
Star Fox‘s digital version makes that an even smaller pill to swallow, since it’s listed at $49.99 instead of $59.99. That $10 difference will likely push more players toward the eShop version, especially since digital copies are already the more convenient option for a lot of Switch 2 owners. With that, there’s no cartridge to keep up with, no need to swap games in and out, and Star Fox‘s reported 14.8 GB file size isn’t too unreasonable for players who still have room on their Switch 2. It should also be mentioned that there are no differences between Star Fox‘s digital and physical editions as far as content goes, so buyers would simply be paying an extra $10 for the game cartridge and case.
Star Fox Pre-Order Bonuses and Where to Buy
As of now, Star Fox doesn’t appear to have any confirmed U.S. pre-order bonuses, so there’s no obvious retailer-exclusive extra pushing players toward one store over another. The one exception is My Nintendo Store UK, which lists a Star Fox Pin Set and Rubber Velcro Patch as bonus items with purchase. For U.S. buyers, though, the main thing to compare is still the Switch 2 game’s price and format, and that can actually change depending on which retailer players choose to purchase it from.
Where To Pre-Order Star Fox
Star Fox is available to pre-order at most of the major retailers players would expect, including Nintendo, Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and GameStop. For anyone buying physical, though, Amazon and Walmart are the two retailers worth calling out right now. It’s worth noting that Amazon and Walmart are matching the Star Fox physical edition to the $50 digital price, saving buyers around $10. That makes either one a strong option for players who still want a physical copy without paying the usual $59.99 physical price.
Ultimately, all of this makes Star Fox a very simple pre-order situation. There are no confirmed U.S. pre-order bonuses, no special editions to compare, and no extra in-game content locked behind one version over another. Unless Nintendo or one of its retail partners announces something before launch—and it’s unlikely that it will—the choice comes down to physical or digital, with the digital version being cheaper and Amazon and Walmart currently giving physical buyers a way to get the boxed copy without paying the full $59.99 price.
