Steam Is Getting the Perfect Battlefield 1 Replacement on June 18

Steam Is Getting the Perfect Battlefield 1 Replacement on June 18

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam has the potential to resonate with fans of large-scale historical shooters like Battlefield 1, and it’s coming to PC and consoles on June 18, 2026. EA’s Battlefield franchise has often explored historical settings with recent entries including Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5. However, the series’ sixth mainline installment returned to a modern setting, leaving behind part of the fanbase that prefers classic firearms and warfare. That said, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam could be exactly the kind of experience those players have been missing.

Many fans consider Battlefield 1 one of the best entries in the franchise. Despite launching in 2016, SteamDB data shows that the game still reaches a daily peak of around 8,000 concurrent players on Steam. Considering Battlefield 1 is also available on several other platforms, it is safe to say the game has maintained an impressive player base over the years. Even so, many fans have been hoping for a new experience that delivers the same appeal with improved visuals and fresh content.

PC is Getting the Perfect Elder Scrolls Replacement on June 2

Fans looking for an alternative to The Elder Scrolls as the wait for TES6 drags on may have the perfect replacement releasing on June 2.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Should Greatly Appeal to Battlefield 1 Fans

One of Battlefield 1‘s defining features is its massive 64-player matches, which help create immersive World War 1 battles. Fortunately, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam follows a similar approach. Its large-scale maps support battles between two teams of 50 players each, bringing the total player count to 100 per match. As the title suggests, the game is set during the Vietnam War, allowing players to fight as either US military forces or the Vietnamese army. More importantly for fans of realistic historical games, all the firearms, vehicles, and maps are all inspired by real-life events and military equipment from the era.

Another aspect of Hell Let Loose: Vietnam‘s gameplay that could appeal to Battlefield 1 fans is its strategic use of military assets. Much like how tanks and aircraft played a critical role in Battlefield 1 matches, US helicopters are a key part of combat in Hell Let Loose: Vietnam. What makes the game especially interesting, however, is its asymmetrical approach to gameplay mechanics. The armored helicopters, for example, are exclusive to the US faction, while Vietnamese soldiers have access to their own unique advantage: constructing underground tunnel systems.

Fans of multiplayer shooter games who are still on the fence about Hell Let Loose: Vietnam may want to mark May 29 on their calendars. On that day, developer Expression Games will launch a free open beta that anyone can join. The beta will run until June 1, giving players four days to experience the game and its large-scale battles at no cost.
