Steam users will have a chance to claim one of id Software’s best games, Doom (2016), for free on October 28. The game has earned overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam, and its multiplayer mode remains somewhat active despite being a decade old. Now, those who missed the chance to play this acclaimed title or want to add it to their PC library can look forward to an upcoming key drop event that will offer Doom at no cost.
The 2016 installment remains one of the most popular games in the Doom franchise. Many players praised it for staying true to the classic titles in the series, with some even describing it as a 3D version of the original Doom. However, many gamers may still have never played it and may not be willing to spend $19.99 on a decade-old game. Those players will now have a chance to claim Doom (2016) without spending a dime through Lenovo’s latest giveaway.

Lenovo’s key drops may differ from Steam’s free-to-keep game promotions, but fans should note that the keys it offers are ultimately redeemed on Valve’s storefront. That said, there may be a couple of additional steps involved. For instance, players will initially need to redeem the Lenovo voucher on GamesPlanet to get the actual Steam key.
Other Free Steam Games to Claim in October
Before the Doom key drop event, Lenovo Legion Gaming Community will also offer free keys for the indie game Buissons. Buissons is a co-op hide-and-seek game with over 90% positive reviews on Steam. Those looking to claim a key should mark October 14 on their calendars, as the giveaway will begin on Lenovo’s website that day.
Gamers who prefer claiming free games directly through Valve’s storefront will also have something to look forward to. According to SteamDB data, the cozy game Fireside Feelings is likely to become free-to-keep on Steam sometime in October. Gamers will also likely have at least four free DLC bundles to claim, including additional content for games such as MXGP 26 and Hunting Simulator 3.
