The upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has officially shown off a brand-new look at Ganon’s Castle, getting a major upgrade from the Nintendo 64 original. The highly-anticipated Zelda remake is one of Nintendo’s biggest new releases for the end of 2026.
The Zelda franchise’s first 3D adventure is gearing up to be one of the stars of the 2026 holiday season. Nintendo has shown off a wealth of new content in the Ocarina of Time remake, ranging from revamped versions of classic locations like Zora’s Domain and Hyrule Castle Town to new quality-of-life additions. The remake introduces a plethora of helpful features to the game, including the “Threads of Time” synopsis, voice controls for playing the Ocarina, and a Jump button allowing for greater mobility. Now, Nintendo has given fans a new look at the climactic final dungeon of Ocarina of Time.
Ocarina of Time Remake Shows Off Ganon’s Castle
A new image shared by Nintendo shows off the imposing Ganon’s Castle looming in the distance. The stunning depiction of Ocarina of Time‘s final dungeon draws from many of the same design elements of the original version, replacing the original’s spiked walls with ornate fences surrounding the castle. The central tower stands tall in the middle of the grounds of the former Hyrule Castle, with the climactic battle against Ganondorf taking place atop the highest point of Ganon’s Castle. The new look at Ganon’s Castle did not showcase any views of the revamped interior of the iconic dungeon.
Ganon’s Castle is just one of a plethora of beloved locations Nintendo has shared ahead of the Ocarina of Time remake’s release. Official gameplay footage from Nintendo has given fans a closer look at some of Hyrule’s most recognizable settings, including the pristine waters of Zora’s Domain. The studio has also shown off several fan-favorite bosses from the original game remade for the Switch 2, including the infamous Dark Link mini-boss featured at the halfway point of the Water Temple. The remake of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is scheduled to officially release on November 5.
Zelda fans will have plenty more to look forward to alongside the release of the franchise’s newest remake. Nintendo is debuting a special Switch 2 console to celebrate Zelda‘s 40th anniversary, featuring a stunning Triforce design on the dock and green Joy-Cons. A pair of new Ocarina of Time-themed Amiibo figures are also scheduled to release in 2027, featuring both Young Link and Princess Zelda, granting special masks in the remake. A special Ocarina controller is also set to be released on the same day, which players can use with the remake’s voice recognition mechanics.
Nintendo’s new Ocarina of Time remake is just one of several games that will highlight the company’s holiday season. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave recently debuted in mid-September 2026 as the first major Fire Emblem game released on the Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is also set to launch on October 22 as a sequel to Nintendo Switch Sports, adding new games such as skateboarding and thumb wrestling. Zelda: Ocarina of Time looks to lead the charge for Nintendo as one of the hottest new releases of 2026.
