Steam users are no doubt familiar with the storefront’s Free to Keep promotions, with the latest free game being Worldcrafter TD—a survival-crafting game. For PC players, Steam’s Free to Keep promotions are one of the most varied ways to claim free games on the internet, although they tend to pass with less fanfare than other methods.
For example, World Crafter TD‘s “-100% discount” went live nearly 24 hours ago on Steam with little to no promotion, but the good news is that fans have over 48 hours left to claim the new free game as of this writing. World Crafter TD is an open-world survival game with infinite resources that includes features familiar to the tower defense genre.
Steam is Giving Away World Crafter TD for Free Until March 5
The core gameplay loop of World Crafter TD will be familiar to fans of the genre. In short, players explore a map to gather a variety of crafting materials, while also discovering new crafting recipes and resources. Players will then use these discoveries to create structures almost like Minecraft (though not as expansive), to craft equipment, and to amass numerous weapons. Players will be able to build a variety of turrets, as well as melee/ranged weapons, to beat back waves of enemies.
- Gather Resources
- Explore the Land
- Craft Equipment, Turrets, Weapons, and Structures
- Beat Waves of Enemies
Those interested should act quickly, as they have until 12 PM CT on March to claim the game, but they should know that it has received mixed reviews on Steam since launching in 2024. In general, it seems players have targeted its difficulty, with the game described as having no challenge. Others have also questioned the quality of it in general, as well as its technical execution. As such, fans should temper expectations going in, but at the price of free, it’s hard to argue against checking it out.
March 5 is a Super Busy Day for PC Players
World Crafter TD is not going to be for everyone, but March 5 is culminating in a busy day for PC gaming. Nintendo Switch 2 gamers get Pokemon Pokopia on March 5, but PC players get to finally play Slay the Spire 2 in Early Access, can check out Bungie’s new extraction shooter in Marathon, and dive into the world of Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf. Each of these games is a premium title with a premium price, save the indie titles.
There are a handful of free PC games to claim right now, too. Steam users can also pick up Just Move: Clean City Messy Battle for free until March 4, where players control a character from a top-down view and must complete one hundred missions while eliminating waves of targets. Then there’s the Epic Games Store free games tied to March 5.
Boxes: Lost Fragments is a 2024 puzzle game, while My Night Job is a side-scrolling 2D horror game where players attempt to save survivors from monsters. These titles will be free until March 5 at 10 am CT, as is the case every week, at which time a new slate of free downloads will rotate in. The Raistlin’s Renown Pack for Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms offers $100 worth of content for the popular idle clicker, including Raistlin Majere, Gale, Spurt, Briv, and Ellywick, alongside Platinum Chests, potions, and an exclusive familiar. Meanwhile, Turnip Boy Robs a Bank is a comedic roguelite sequel to Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion, which has developed a bit of a cult following over the years.
There’s a massive variety between the free Steam games, the free Epic Games Store games, and the premium titles coming March 5, and fans are likely to find something that clicks with them—whether or not that’s World Crafter TD.
