Without a doubt, developer and publisher Pearly Abyss’ Crimson Desert has been one of the best open-world games on Steam since it released earlier this year, and some lucky Steam users are going to be able to experience all it has to offer for just $1. However, gamers should be aware that this isn’t a traditional sale or discount—Crimson Desert is still $70 on Steam—but is due to a randomized commercial bundle.
Since its launch in March, Pearl Abyss has released nearly non-stop updates for Crimson Desert, with the latest arriving recently in July 2026. It’s not as exciting as past updates, as it focuses on technical and gameplay-related issues that players have been running into, i.e. issues with rewards, rate drops, rendering issues, Oongka refusing to follow Kliff, etc. Arguably, Crimson Desert has never been better than it is today, and for some lucky Steam users, that means getting to experience it for just $1.

The deal comes through Fanatical’s Mystery Egg Bundle, which lets PC gamers purchase randomized Steam keys starting at $1 each. Most buyers will receive smaller indie games, with an average of Very Positive reviews on Steam, but every weekly refresh also includes a selection of premium “Golden Egg” rewards. The latest lineup features Crimson Desert Digital Deluxe Edition, alongside still-standing games like Death Stranding 2, Doom: The Dark Ages, and LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Digital Deluxe Edition.
The Digital Deluxe Edition of Crimson Desert includes the Karios Plate set (helm, armor, cloak, gloves, and boots), the Balgran Shield, and the Exclaire Horse Tack Set (Champron, Barding, Saddle, and Stirrups).
This Steam Key promotion works like a raffle or lottery. Every purchase guarantees a Steam key, but there’s no way to know which game will be on the other side. While there’s always a chance of landing one of the featured AAA releases, most buyers should expect to receive one of the many indie games included in the pool instead. That said, if someone is just looking for something new to play and is interested in AAA games like Crimson Desert, but is more than willing to check out hidden gems and little indies too, then this promotion is a great opportunity.

Every reward is assigned randomly, meaning one buyer could end up with Crimson Desert, while another receives a much smaller Steam game instead. Really, the only thing better than a cheap game on Steam is a free game on Steam, so it’s a bit of a gamble, but it’s also a bit of a “lobster too buttery” situation.

Again, it’s worth reiterating, restating, and remembering that this is a mystery box, not a guaranteed discount. Anyone interested should only buy the bundle if they’re comfortable receiving something other than Crimson Desert. For Steam users who are okay discovering new indie games while taking a shot at a major AAA release, however, it’s one of the more interesting promotions currently available.
