Steam Users Have Limited Time to Claim Free Turn-Based RPG (Before It’s Gone Forever)

Steam users have until September 14 to add a free turn-based strategy RPG to their digital libraries at no cost, but those who do not at least claim it before then will never get the chance to play it again. Anyone who already owns it on Steam is also in the clear, but the developer intends to delist the game for two specific reasons.

And whatever the reason a developer/publisher has for delisting a Steam game, PlayStation game, Xbox game, Switch game, and so on, it’s always respectful to give players a heads-up. More than once, although not always within the power of a developer, a game has been delisted with no prior warning to players. Maybe someone would return to it, play it, and say goodbye, as has happened with games like Battlefield: Hardline.

New Steam Game is Like Pokemon Meets Stardew Valley

A brand-new indie game coming to Steam is combining elements of farming sim games like Stardew Valley with a variety of creatures to collect.

Stones Keeper: King Aurelius is Being Delisted, But It’s Free to Claim and Play

On September 14, Developer SK team is delisting its turn-based strategy RPG Stones Keeper: King Aurelius. For those unaware, this Stones Keeper game focuses on the titular king, explores his history with the Order of the Griffin, and ultimately resolves with his final moments in his dark, dark world. The strategy combat manifests on grid-based maps, with positioning, excellent ability use, and different combos of weapons/skills required to win the day. Outside of combat, fans also manage their characters and develop their kingdom, adding more avenues for players to enjoy the free-to-play game on Steam.

SK Team gave two reasons for King Aurelius‘ removal. First, on the same date, SK Team is releasing Stones Keeper: Director’s Cut. This is a remaster for the core game, Stones Keeper, which King Aurelius is a free prequel to. Stones Keeper is a cheaper game on Steam, but it is a paid, premium product. Secondly, though, Stones Keeper: Director’s Cut represents the quality that the team wants to hold the series to, and as one of the earliest products in the Stones Keeper series, the team no longer feels King Aurelius is a good representation of that standard. That said, if anyone really enjoys experiencing how a video game series has developed, playing King Aurelius before the Director’s Cut would be a perfect pairing.

Reviews for Stones Keeper: King Aurelius on Steam are 77% Mostly Positive, with players generally praising its tactical combat, art style, and amount of content while criticizing some of its progression and design decisions. Positive reviews, generally speaking, tend to highlight the satisfying turn-based battles and the variety of characters and abilities, while negative feedback points to repetitive encounters, grinding, and mechanics that can make progression feel slower than it should. Overall, the game appears to have a solid tactical RPG foundation for Steam, but its less polished systems and occasional frustration keep it from earning a stronger reception.

Those who check it out before it’s delisting have the core game to move on to, as mentioned above, but it’s worth mentioning that a sequel is also in development. Right now, Stones Keeper 2: Chaos Lord is listed as “coming soon” on Steam.
