Steam Users Have Until January 29 to Claim Free Game With ‘Very Positive’ Reviews

Steam users looking to expand their library of free games have until January 29 to snag Along the Edge. Free Steam giveaways take place all the time, giving users of the platform the chance to dramatically increase their collections without paying a single penny. Admittedly, there are times when the free Steam games are nothing to write home about, but there are also times when the freebies give players the opportunity to discover hidden gems that they may have otherwise overlooked.

There are currently multiple free Steam games up for grabs. Cursedland is free on Steam until February 1, while Kiki is free on Steam until January 31. For those unfamiliar with the games, Cursedland is a 2D platformer with a focus on comedy and challenging gameplay. Kiki, meanwhile, is a 3D platformer where players have to avoid all kinds of dangerous hazards as they make their way through its various levels. Fans of platformer games should be sure to snag both Cursedland and Kiki while they’re still up for grabs, and those looking for something a little different may want to turn their attention to the latest free Steam game.

Steam Users Have Until January 31 to Claim 2024 Game Completely Free of Charge

Steam users have yet another free game to claim for their digital libraries, but they only have until January 31 to do so.

New Steam Game is Free Until January 29

From now until January 29 at 12:00pm CST, Steam users can claim Along the Edge for free. Whereas Cursedland and Kiki are platformers, Along the Edge is a narrative-driven visual novel game about a woman named Daphne who moves to the French countryside to start a new life after a breakup and the loss of her baby. There, she discovers she actually comes from a line of witches. Along the Edge includes romance options and branching story paths depending on the choices that players make in the game. It has enjoyed a “Very Positive” rating from Steam users, and has earned strong marks from professional critics as well, with particular praise for its art style and story. Visual novel games may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but fans of the genre should definitely make sure to claim Along the Edge while they still can.

Right now, Steam users are eating good when it comes to free game giveaways. Between Cursedland, Kiki, and now Along the Edge, there’s plenty to play on the platform at no additional cost. PC gamers willing to use platforms other than Steam can get even more free games, with the Epic Games Store particularly well-known for its weekly free game giveaways.

From now until January 29 at 10:00am CST, the GTA-like medieval action game Rustler is free on the Epic Games Store. Rustler earned mixed reviews, but fans of old-school Grand Theft Auto games may still find it to be quite entertaining, especially at the cost of “free.” Those looking to play more crime-focused games don’t have to wait long to add another to their collection either, as once Rustler is cycled out of the free games lineup on January 29, it will be replaced by a game called Definitely Not Fried Chicken, which is all about running a fried chicken restaurant as a front for a drug empire (ala Breaking Bad).

There were a lot of free games given away last holiday season thanks to promotions like the Epic Games Store daily mystery games and various publishers on Steam giving away freebies. Most years, the free game giveaways would have dried up by now, but they seem to still be going strong. For now, PC gamers can claim Along the Edge, Cursedland, and Kiki on Steam, while Epic Games Store users can snag Rustler and look forward to Definitely Not Fried Chicken. It will be interesting to see what the rest of 2026 has in store when it comes to free game giveaways, but the year is already off to an excellent start.
