Steam’s thematic sales come thick and fast, but this week’s latest is especially strong. The Steam Cyberpunk Fest, running from now until August 10, comes with a pretty big headline: Cyberpunk 2077 is just $18, the lowest price it’s ever been. But that’s just one of a whole bunch of neon-lit games that are going for super-cheap over the next week.
So yes, Cyberpunk 2077 for a proper bargain is the attention-getter of the festival. The game, once infamous for being so broken, six years later is a celebrated classic RPG. $18 is the lowest price CD Projekt’s game has ever reached, and it hits it here for the second time after a previous promotion in June. That’s 70 percent off its standard $60. 2023’s Phantom Liberty DLC is also on sale, although not quite as generously, with 40 percent lopped off to bring it down to another $18. Still, $36 for the lot is a damned fine deal.
Another properly great game with huge savings is RoboCop: Rogue City. No, it’s not in keeping with the satirical nature of the original movie, but it’s a really strong shooter and one of the best to appear in 2023. Last year we saw the game come down to a super-low $10, but forget all that! This week Teyon’s take on the badass robo-popo is just $4.
Another 2020 classic at its lowest price is Ghostrunner. The first-person cyberpunk action game is best known for its elegant movement and wanton gore, and this week drops to its semi-regular sale price of $7.50. Ghostrunner 2, meanwhile, is barely any more expensive, down 80 percent to $8.
There’s also a true all-time classic, and a game I constantly want to write about: Uplink. The 2006 game from Introversion, now best known for Prison Architect but once one of the earliest indie success stories, is a hacking sim that doesn’t require you to know how to code. Instead it’s about leaping around nodes, robbing banks, and getting nefarious access to important files, all while dropping viruses and avoiding detection. And it’s still just as splendid 20 years later. Even more splendid when it’s under $4.
Far more recent is 2025’s Ninja Gaiden 4, the hack-n-slash action game sneaking into cyberpunk on a technicality. It’s dropped 40 percent a handful of times since April this year, which makes for a great price for a game that’s only nine months old, now $42 instead of $70.
There are a squillion other good bargains in there, like Deus Ex: Human Revolution for $3, Hades creator Supergiant’s 2014 stunner Transistor for $4, and the only-just-released Quasimorph already down 33 percent to $17. Just strap on your glowy helmet, some neon-infused knee-high leather boots, and go plunder.
