Stores Baffled After Being Sent Boxes Of Rare Poop Slinger Game

“Guess what we just got in the mail?” Asks Double Jump Video Games owner SicCooper in a recent video. “A literal box of poop.”

Over the last week, a growing number of video game shops have reported receiving boxes of the 2018 PlayStation 4 game Poop Slinger. Though they say you can’t polish a turd, the game’s rather boutique physical run made it de facto one of the rarest games on the console. With fewer than 100 known copies in the wild, they usually fetch over a thousand in online auctions. Or at least they used to. Receiving such a valuable heap has left retailers confused and concerned, trying to figure out which end of the gift horse these came from.

“I had an idea that they were rare, but I had no idea what they’re going for,” SicCooper continued. “We just looked it up and they’re like over $1,000 a piece. I have no clue where this came from. This is not something that I ordered. It’s just from VS Games LLC in Virginia. I have no clue what we’re supposed to do.”

In a follow up video, staff reached out to the Virginia business only to discover a likewise state of confusion. VS was hammered by calls from others with similar boxes of Poop. It has drummed up a lot of speculation in the used games community. Some parties worried they’re being leveraged for some strange form of fraud, others that they’re being scammed with fake copies, though it’s since emerged that the games are the legitimate article. The same video cites a rumor that a liquidation company was approached to offload over 2,000 copies with a “way undermarket value.” A video from another store, Cake Hoarder Games, claims that the originating postmaster was given 39 packages with six copies apiece.

The physical copies of Poop Slinger were originally released by Limited Rare Games in 2019. While they said they only printed around 100 copies, Sony’s minimums require at least 1,000. It would add up that most of the copies were made but simply left out of circulation, drumming up the value. If untapped stock enters the market, the value will inherently crash. Cake Hoarder says they likely won’t sell their copies until the stink clears, while Double Jump says they’ll give theirs away. Making those with dollar signs in their eyes the butt of the joke might be the answer to this riddle.

Being a little stinker seems to be Limited Rare’s MO. Poop Slinger, the game where you sling poop, is not their only release circling around toilet matters. The strange operation largely seems to poke fun at groups like Limited Run Games, the endless theatrics that revolve them and the frenzied market behind them. Though Limited Rare’s own erratic antics, deactivating and reactivating site and socials, all the while picking up more legitimate indie games like Tamashii in the process, makes them more confusing than satirical. Their response to the growing drama is just as effusive, posting a Cameo from the Costco Guy talking about sunk investments.
