Nintendo has updated the Nintendo Switch Online‘s Nintendo Classics library, adding yet another classic N64 game to the lineup. Nintendo 64 games are a part of the Nintendo Switch Online’s Expansion Pack tier. For $49.99 per year, Nintendo Switch gamers can play a variety of classic games from the Genesis, GBA, GameCube (if they have a Switch 2), and Nintendo 64 libraries, plus all the consoles that are available on the base tier.
Nintendo updates the Switch Online’s Nintendo Classics lineup on a regular basis, ensuring that there is always some new classic game to try out as a way to keep people signed up. The Nintendo 64 lineup has grown dramatically since the first N64 games were added to Switch Online back in 2021, and it continues to expand to this day.

Donkey Kong 64 is Now on Switch Online
The latest Nintendo 64 game to make its Switch Online + Expansion Pack debut is Donkey Kong 64. Donkey Kong 64 is a critically-acclaimed 3D platformer developed by Rare that features a variety of Kong family members as playable characters. The game is notorious for its overwhelming amount of content and while it’s been criticized for some of its mechanics — like making it so only certain Kongs can collect certain collectibles — it’s still considered one of the better 3D platformers released for the N64.

Donkey Kong 64 joining the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service is great to see, and it also potentially lends credibility to a leak about other N64 games that are on the way. It was previously leaked that Rayman 2, Donkey Kong 64, Glover, and Super Smash Bros. would be coming to Switch Online. Since that leak, Rayman 2 and Donkey Kong 64 have been added, meaning it’s likely just a matter of time before Glover and Super Smash Bros. make their debut.

While there are certainly Glover fans out there, it’s safe to say that the majority of fans would be most excited about Super Smash Bros. The OG Super Smash Bros. may feel a little barebones compared to later entries, but it is brimming with charm, and it’s fun to see where the franchise started.
Whenever Super Smash Bros. comes to Switch Online, one has to wonder what will be next for the N64 lineup. There are still some major N64 games missing from Switch Online, but that list becomes smaller with every update, and eventually, Nintendo may be done adding N64 games to the service.
