Take-Two CEO Gives New Official Statement on GTA 6’s Release Date

Take-Two CEO Gives New Official Statement on GTA 6’s Release Date

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has reiterated November 19, 2026, as the final Grand Theft Auto 6 release date. The executive cited the date in a broader corporate governance statement, giving a confident signal that the chances of another GTA 6 delay are next to none.

Rockstar originally announced GTA 6 as a 2025 title, committing to that release window at the end of the game’s reveal trailer from December 2023. About 18 months later, the developer postponed the title to May 26, 2026, before delaying it again six months later to November 19. At the time, Rockstar said it needed more time to deliver the level of quality and polish that fans have come to expect from its AAA games.

GTA 6 May Have Trouble With The Game Awards

GTA 6 reportedly risks missing out on TGA 2026 race on a technicality, despite being widely seen as the favorite for the GOTY award.

Take-Two Still Plans to Release GTA 6 on November 19, 2026

Despite the previous delays, Take-Two’s recent communications suggest that the company remains confident in GTA 6‘s current release schedule. One such reassurance appears in Zelnick’s latest letter to shareholders, included in a preliminary proxy statement filed July 17, 2026. The CEO wrote that fiscal 2027, which began in the second quarter of calendar 2026, could mark a “major inflection point” for the company. That is in no small part due to GTA 6‘s planned November 19 release date falling near the middle point of the ongoing fiscal year, which should spread its impact across the fiscal year and likely make fiscal 2027 Take-Two’s best-ever year for net bookings.

Take-Two CEO Spent Over Half of 2026 Giving the Same GTA 6 Release Date Assurance

Highlighting the release date in an investor-facing governance document represents one of Take-Two’s most confident signals yet that GTA 6 remains firmly on schedule. Even so, the July 2026 filing is far from the first time Zelnick has assured investors that the company’s most ambitious (and expensive) project to date is progressing without any further complications. Since the game’s third delay was announced in late 2025, fans and (to a lesser extent) industry watchers have consistently questioned whether the third time will be the charm, or if Rockstar’s highly anticipated GTA 5 sequel will need to be delayed yet again. Against that backdrop, Zelnick has now officially spent the majority of 2026 telling analysts, journalists, and shareholders that GTA 6 remains on track for November 19, which is something he has been reiterating since January.

GTA 6’s Launch Week Forecast to Dwarf GTA 5’s First 4 Years

According to recent analyst estimates, GTA 6 could generate as much as $5 billion in its first week on the market. More conservative forecasts put its launch-week revenue at about $3.25 billion. By comparison, GTA 5 generated $1.7 billion in its first 12 months and took about four years to reach $5 billion in sales. Naturally, that milestone includes revenue from GTA Online, which has played a key part in sustaining the game’s unprecedentedly evergreen commercial performance since its original launch in October 2013, mere weeks following GTA 5 itself.

History now appears poised to repeat itself, with Rockstar already confirming that GTA 6‘s November 19 launch is of the single-player variety. The next-gen version of GTA Online is still expected to be formally unveiled closer to the game’s release and will presumably arrive a few weeks after the single-player campaign, mirroring the initial rollout of GTA 5.
