It’s been less than a month since Pokopia hit shelves, yet that seems to be all the time the charming Pokemon spin-off needed to take the world–and my Instagram feed–by storm. Whenever I’m not playing Pokopia, I find myself stumbling into conversations or posts about the game. Naturally, many of these revolve around the game’s most vital, and creatively rewarding, component: building.
Though I’m fairly proud of my various flower shops and bathhouses, there’s no denying that there are some seriously talented creators out there who push Pokopia’s building possibilities to the next level. I’ve often found myself turning to their builds for inspiration and pointers, so I wanted to round up a few of my favorites to share in hopes that they might inspire you, too. Whether you’re looking to build a ramen shop, a train station, or an underground city, here’s a roundup of some jaw-dropping Pokopia builds that are sure to get your creative juices flowing.
This lush lighthouse island
The lighthouse you stumble across in Bleak Beach might be serviceable, but is it enchanting? With its gorgeous stone balcony, ivy-covered walls, and generally charming atmosphere, this lighthouse island looks like something out of a fairytale.
A windmill treehouse haven
If you’re looking for a build that celebrates the game’s natural beauty, this cute treehouse village is the way to go. With its waterfalls, windmills, and winding staircases, this build feels both wild and whimsical.
This massive underground city
I’ve made an underground city in the Withered Wasteland and use mew ruin inside (the fake sky was the longest part). Pokemon Pokopia is really fun. pic.twitter.com/rogTuyPKns

Nokstella and Nokron have nothing on this underground city–mostly because you’re not being actively hunted down, but still. According to the builder, the fake sky was the most time-consuming part, but you have to admit that the Glowing Stone blocks make for a gorgeous skybox.
A Piplup-perfect houseboat

One of the best things about Pokemon is that, with a sprawling 1,025 to choose from, every player has their own favorite companion. Based on this build, it seems like this player is a major Piplup fan, and wanted to give the adorable penguin-like pal a home worthy of its cuteness. While a houseboat makes the most sense for a water-type Pokemon, you could do something similar for any of your favorites.
This cozy ramen shop with matching apartment
Once you unlock more items, I find that certain build ideas just come naturally. For example, these red lanterns, Japanese-inspired roof tiles, and bits of decor lend themselves perfectly to a cute ‘n cozy ramen shop or sushi spot. The one seen here is super impressive, and offers some great pointers on how to build your very own.
A darling costal shop & townhouse
If you’re looking to add some more shops and houses to an area, why not combine the two into one building? This build is a great example of how to add a lot of real estate while also ensuring your town looks cute.
This beachy waterfall village
This one is definitely a more ambitious build, as it requires time and Pokemon to construct the recommended houses and involves a good amount of terraforming. However, there’s no denying the work is worth it–this place looks like a sanctuary for all your water-type Pokemon and is sure to keep things humid enough even for Magikarp.
A functional subway system

Okay so technically this one is more of a mine cart system, but regardless, it’s impressive. We don’t envy the amount of potato hamburger steaks and time this builder surely went through, but the end result is definitely cool and would work well in modern areas like Sparkling Skylands, too.
These cute (and super functional) camper vans
If you’re tight on space and want to maximize the number of homes you can squeeze in while also keeping your town attractive, you’ve gotta try these camper vans. Not only do they add a boho vibe to the area, they work in more untamed spots, making them a bit more of a lower-lift project that still makes a big impact.
A beautiful barnyard
Farming is a crucial part of Pokopia, as you’ll need a steady supply of food to keep both you and your Pokemon happy, full, and energized. If you’re looking to build a large, proper farm to home your fields (and maybe even Mareep), here’s a good example of how to build something rustic and functional.
This gorgeous greenhouse/cafe combo
What’s better than a cafe? A cafe attached to a greenhouse, obviously. The florals, light wood, and abundance of windows make this build bright and breezy, while a kitchen and storage area add plenty of utility.
A towering treehouse village
One of the first builds I attempted was my own version of this treehouse village, and it’s still one of my absolute favorites. By using the leaf huts, you can add a lot of houses while keeping the actual treehouse itself bustling-yet-compact. This is one I highly recommend you build in the game’s starting area, as all the birds and bug-type Pokemon you find there feel right at home coming in and out of this woodsy retreat.
These cute and colorful Skyland homes
Starting to build in Sparkling Skylands! Finally came up with a building style for it that I’m happy with #pokopia pic.twitter.com/JUofk5fVSy

I’ll be honest, Sparkling Skylands completely overwhelms me. There is so much to clean up and repair and, compared to previous locations, it has a lot less of a focus on natural-living. This build reassures me that fixing the area up is actually possible, and showcases how to stay true to the area’s more urban vibes while also introducing some color and charm.
This train station right out of Ghibli movie
This starter train station is perfect for folks looking for an easy way to make their minecart tracks look a bit more intentional. It also has a house attached to it, making it a perfect and suiting spot for your more construction-minded Pokemon to live.
