Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon recently received another major patch that adds an impressive amount of content to the game. Developer Questline has been working hard to smooth out many of the issues Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon players have experienced, including performance and balancing issues.
The game is a dark fantasy RPG inspired by Arthurian legends and games like The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon has gotten plenty of updates since its full 1.0 release in May 2025 and is currently reviewed as Very Positive on Steam, having amassed an impressive following for an AA title from a small but mighty developer. The title recently saw a major content update with its first DLC, Sanctuary of Sarras, which added an entirely new zone filled with quests to complete, dungeons to explore, and loot to find. This latest update is just one of many Questline has planned for the game.

Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon Adds More Content and Smooths Out Its Third Act
Questline released Patch 1.20 for Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon on March 3. With it, the developer added a slate of new content for the game’s third act, which is an often-referenced pain point for players. The new content looks to smooth out the game’s later experience by adding more content and balancing certain items to slow down player power. According to the developer, some players have said power ramps up too quickly in the latter half of the game, trivializing much of the content.
The team has also added new quality-of-life improvements, including the ability to favorite items in the inventory, and a long-awaited performance update for the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon now features a 40 FPS mode that can be enabled on console, which should be a big improvement to how the game runs. The latest patch also improves the art and level design of the game’s third act, Forlorn Swords.
Additionally, players will have a new area to explore and new bosses to fight. With Patch 1.20, players can now face off against Sleepwalker—a melee-focused, golem-like creature that looks to be made of stone, tree, and ice—and Cairnguard, a lithe, fighter type that uses fast punches and slams. The new area, Etherbloom Love, is a cave for players to delve into. Questline also added a new customizable player house, audio improvements, and quest improvements. The team also said that the next free DLC content that they had announced for the end of March is still being worked on, but Questline should have more details to share soon. There are plenty of new secrets to dive into with this latest update, but there are also past secrets to find in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, too.
The power scaling, which includes a soft cap for player stats, and the new balancing for late-game items, are both optional additions. If players don’t want to feel like their characters are being weakened, they can still use the pre-patch version of the items and turn off the soft cap in the game’s settings. Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon also features difficulty scaling options for players to tweak their experience to how they like it.
Questline has released steady updates for Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, addressing many of the game’s issues, including console performance, a lackluster third act, clunky quests, and bugs. As such, the game is in a much better state now than upon release. At its peak, Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon had 25,656 concurrent players, according to SteamDB, which is an impressive number for an AA dark-fantasy RPG. While the game currently sits at 3,169 concurrent players after receiving a boost from the recent content update, combined with the Very Positive reviews on Steam, it’s a good indication that the game has a healthy player base. With the planned upcoming content from developer Questline, players can expect to hear more Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon news in the coming months.
