Derek’s love of games came at an early age when his parents first brought home the Nintendo Entertainment System. From then on, countless nights were spent hunting ducks, stomping turtles, exploring far off planets, and combing through dungeons with a trusty sword and shield. Originally growing up exclusively with Nintendo products, Derek’s perspective grew to include other platforms ranging from Sony, to Microsoft, the PC, and more. As his views and opinions grew, so did the desire to connect with other players and video game fans. In 2011, his writing adventure began on his personal blog, eventually joining up with the GameRant crew in 2015. He currently covers everything from features and guides, to the latest breaking video game news.

With Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game now available on PC and PlayStation 5, The Gameplay Group and PM Studios revealed plans to continue updating the game with more features and content. It’s a good time to be an Avatar fan, as the franchise is certainly seeing plenty of new content to consume between a new film, an upcoming animated series, and now the highly anticipated game, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game.

There has seemingly been plenty of excitement surrounding Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game thanks to its striking hand-drawn 2D animation which helps it appear faithful to the beloved animated series. That visual style as well as the tight controls are a big reason why critics and fans have praised Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game even if the game is missing a few expected features typically seen within this genre. However, it seems that The Gameplay Group is well aware of these missing pieces as a new post-launch newsletter has arrived to provide plenty of details on what players can expect to see with the game going forward.

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game features a large roster of fan-favorite characters. Here is a full guide on how you can unlock every character.

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game Adding Free DLC Character

Following the launch of Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, the team put out a short post on Twitter revealing its post-launch plans to continue expanding the game with content and features. However, a surprising announcement confirmed that Tagah from the Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender film is being added as a playable character.

What’s most surprising about this character reveal is that Tagah isn’t considered part of the previously revealed Season Pass of characters, a nice surprise that players likely didn’t see coming. What’s more is that Tagah will be available completely for free as a thank you to players, with additional details set to be announced at a later date prior to Tagah’s planned Fall 2026 release. Previously at EVO 2026, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game revealed the content of its 5 character season pass, confirming Bolin, Chief Lin Beifong, Ty Lee, and Uncle Iroh. The fifth character will come down to a player vote between Amon, Kuvira, King Bumi, Tenzin, and Asami Sato.
