It has been about a year since the Nintendo Switch 2 launched into the open arms of the gaming world, and since then, we have received countless amazing games that look and feel so good on a refreshed yet familiar piece of hardware. However, as is the way with the gaming world, no matter how many great titles drop, there always seems to be more on the way, and in June alone, we are going to see quite a few incredible games, both from existing franchises and brand-new IPs.
2026 Video Game Release Date Calendar
From remakes to new titles, 2026 is shaping up to be a blockbuster year in gaming.
It feels like yesterday that the original Switch launched, and as an early adopter myself, I have always adored the platform for its dedication to comfort and lineup of games that has allowed it to remain at the top of the industry for so long. Now, almost a decade on, we are seeing that success continue, with an array of new releases that will tick any and all boxes for gamers of all shapes and sizes.
Fit the 9 games into the grid.

Star Fox
The Long-Awaited Return
Details:
- Price: $49.99 ($59.99 physical)
- Release Date: 25th June 2026
- Full remake of Starfox 64
Star Fox returns to Nintendo’s lineup this June with a new entry focused on cinematic space combat, branching mission routes, and large-scale planetary battles. The franchise has been pretty quiet over the past decade, with the last entry, Zero, appearing on the Wii U, but that doesn’t mean the dying fans have forgotten about the sly and cunning pilot who once dominated the rail-shooter genre.
I, along with many others, was pretty surprised at the new visual approach that looks to bring Fox and the rest of his pals into much higher fidelity territory, yet there is something about seeing and hearing that voice that still manages to get me excited in the face of change. Regardless of whether you are pumped for the bigger encounters, the denser environments, or just to be playing as Fox all over again, I can promise that June will bring with it a whole new addiction for you to sink your teeth into.
Your Favorite Team In The Palm Of Your Hands
Details:
- Price: $19.99
- Release Date: 3rd June 2026
- Both solo and multiplayer modes for all styles of play
Football/Soccer games have existed alongside virtually every console generation, and one of the biggest names in that space used to be PES. Now rebranded as eFootball, players will get to experience the game first-hand on their Switch 2, with upgraded visuals and expanded online features that will ensure there are more ways to play for both veterans and newcomers as well.

5 Upcoming Open-World Games That Sound Too Good To Be True
Meet some of the most ambitious and promising open-world games coming out in the next few years that could become new standards for the genre.
The biggest difference this time around comes from the modes. Not only are there chances to compete on the international stage with a team of your own creation, but there are also chances to play against others and even turn up the intensity with 6v6 matches that will bring with them more goals and more opportunities to show off those ball skills. I have always loved playing with friends in football games, and now that I can do that on the go with the Switch 2, I will certainly be picking it up and charting my course to the top.

The Adventures Of Elliot: The Millennium Tales
A Brand New RPG Adventure
Details:
- Price: $59.99
- Release Date: June 18th 2026
- Beautiful HD-2D real-time combat
The RPG space has seen a lot of growth over the past few years, and now, we are about to be gifted yet another epic adventure. The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales represents modern HD-2D design, replacing the turn-based gameplay with real-time combat, whilst still maintaining all the charm and feel of a more classic title from the early days of the genre.
The titular character is front and center, and players will get to spend plenty of time in his boots, as opposed to having several protagonists to swap between on the fly. I have become more invested in this world of HD-2D games over the past few years, and I am really excited about something new to try, and judging by Square’s track record, it will almost certainly stick the landing.

Unrailed 2: Back on Track
Bringing Back A Couch Co-op Icon
Details:
- Price: $19.99
- Release Date: 11th June 2026
- Procedurally generated madness with plenty of replay value
Unrailed 2: Back on Track expands the cooperative survival formula of the original with larger, upgraded biomes and more elaborate resource-management systems that should test even the best of friendships to their absolute limit. Teams must rapidly build and maintain railway tracks while navigating procedural disasters and environmental hazards, alongside some pretty nasty bosses looking to poke holes in the team’s otherwise sturdy plan.
The first game brought me so many hours of fun, and it always felt like the logical couch co-op game for party nights, especially among non-gamers. This time around, with a full-scale level editor and a whole host of new barriers to conquer, I am itching to hop on the tracks and get the adventure rolling.
5
Solarpunk
Taking To The Skies
Details:
- Price: $22.99
- Release Date: 8th June 2026
- Cozy survival game focusing on aerial exploration
Solarpunk takes the survival-crafting genre in a more optimistic direction, replacing intense resource management with a more cozy approach full of color and life. It’s all about renewable energy systems and traversing the floating environment, not in the name of staying alive, but for the pure joy and freedom that comes from feeling weightless.

Upcoming Role-Playing Games People Are Excited For
While plenty of RPGs have been announced for 2026 and beyond, these upcoming role-playing games are especially exciting.
I instantly gravitated toward the game purely due to the aesthetic and lack of restrictions on how or why to play the game. You can set up a massive village base or go out exploring to your heart’s content, and I, for one, am going to be striking a balance of the two, journeying off into the horizon without a care in the world, then coming back home to watch the sun rise on my beautiful creations.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
The Next Step In The Saga
Details:
- Price: $49.99
- Release Date: 3rd June 2026
- Faithful yet new direction from the original
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is one of the biggest names in the RPG space, and now that it is coming to Switch 2, the revival story can continue to blossom on a much wider playing field. One of the big draws comes from the upgraded power of the new device, which, given how large and graphically intensive a lot of the regions are, should give players the epic fantasy experience that they love and deserve.
The visuals really are mind-blowing, and as a late-adopter of the FF universe, I am glad that I get to enjoy such an amazing story in a much more cinematic form, like many other players who may have missed the original game’s release. It’s a faithful yet new iteration of Cloud’s iconic story and the final stop before the trilogy rounds out in just a few years.
