The S-Tier Diablo 4 Season 12 Build That is Perfect for Maintaining a Killstreak

The S-Tier Diablo 4 Season 12 Build That is Perfect for Maintaining a Killstreak

Killstreaks are the name of the game in Diablo 4 Season 12, and the returning Diablo 3 feature offers players some nice rewards for keeping their streak active. Bloodied items have the most synergy with the Killstreak mechanic, giving players unique buffs depending on their Killstreak tier, but maintaining higher Killstreaks also results in more experience and seasonal reputation, too. As such, the best builds for Diablo 4 Season 12 are those that can help players push their Killstreaks to their limits, and there is one clear candidate for the best chance at achieving this goal.

Of course, Diablo 4 players can also become the Butcher to build a monster Killstreak in a Slaughterhouse, farming Fresh Meat that can be traded in for Bloodied items in Gea Khul. However, Butcher transformations only last while in the Slaughterhouse, or during a limited time if activated using a Shrine of Slaughter in a Helltide. For players looking to constantly keep their Killstreak alive while not in Butcher form, the Crackling Energy Sorcerer is the build to work towards.

Diablo 4 Season 12 is Essentially a Preview of Coming Attractions for Lord of Hatred

Diablo 4 fans looking for a taste of what Lord of Hatred’s Warlock class has to offer may want to check out this Season of Slaughter feature.

Crackling Energy Sorcerer is the Ideal Diablo 4 Season 12 Class for Players Looking for High Killstreaks

The reign of the Hydra Sorcerer in the Diablo 4 meta is largely over, and in its place, the Crackling Energy Sorcerer has risen to the top. Despite most Sorcerer builds taking a significant dive in the Diablo 4 Season 12 meta, Crackling Energy remains the best option for not only the class but for any player looking to maximize their Killstreak. This build has infamously been a speedfarming powerhouse with high Pit tier clearing potential, which makes it even more worthwhile in the Season of Slaughter.

Skills Needed for a Crackling Energy Sorcerer Build

  • Ball Lightning
  • Lightning Spear
  • Unstable Currents
  • Charged Bolts
  • Chain Lightning
  • Teleport

The goal of this build is to charge up the Crackling Energy dropped from using Lightning skills to unleash high-powered attacks at a rapid pace with equally high mobility. Doing so will allow players to quickly zip around the map to dispatch groups of enemies and push their Killstreaks even higher. The primary skill for dealing damage and creating Crackling Energy orbs is Ball Lightning, but Lightning Spear will also be useful for applying Vulnerable to enemies.

Unstable Currents is the other must-use skill on this build. As the Crackling Energy Sorcerer’s Ultimate Skill of choice, Unstable Currents allows the class to cast another random Core, Conjuration, or Mastery Shock skill whenever they cast one Shock skill. This means players will want to invest in Charged Bolts and Chain Lightning, but focus on casting Unstable Currents and Ball Lightning, leaving Unstable Currents to cast these extra skills automatically. Teleport is the final skill needed for this build to thrive, and with its Enchantment, allows players to Teleport when Evading while also spawning three charges of Crackling Energy.

Must-Have Gear for a Crackling Energy Sorcerer Build

  • Esadora’s Overflowing Cameo
  • Orisvane
  • Galvanic Azurite

The cornerstone of this build is Esadora’s Overflowing Cameo, a Unique Amulet for the Sorcerer that allows Crackling Energy to deal massive damage. This Unique gives Crackling Energy a 10% damage increase for every level of Shock skills the Sorcerer has equipped, which is why this build wants to invest in as many Shock skills as possible on the hotbar, even if they aren’t cast regularly. Esadora’s Overflowing Cameo also unleashes a massive discharge of Crackling Energy upon reaching max stacks, which can melt enemies in an instant.

Aside from Esadora’s Overflowing Cameo, the Crackling Energy Sorcerer can take full advantage of the Orisvance Unique Mace. This Unique gives the Sorcerer increased damage and bonus Enchantment effects for each Defensive Skill not on their hotbar. Players can take advantage of this to gain access to helpful Enchantments like Ice Armor and Frost Nova. The Galvanic Azurite Unique Ring is also a solid choice for this build, since it spawns more Crackling Energy and increases the Lightning damage enemies take from the Sorcerer’s skills.

One Diablo 4 Class Gets the Short End of the Stick in Season 12

Diablo 4 players may want to avoid this class during the Season of Slaughter, as it’s playstyle doesn’t synergize well with the seasonal mechanics.

Why the Crackling Energy Sorcerer is a Killstreak Superstar in Diablo 4 Season 12

Despite this build focusing on single-target damage, it’s actually incredibly effective at clearing large groups of enemies simply due to how fast players are able to rack up serious damage and move on to another group. Part of what makes the time to kill on this build so fast is its ability to apply Vulnerable to enemies with Lightning Spear, which sets up the Crackling Energy damage unleashed by Esadora’s Overflowing Cameo’s Unique effect to wipe out enemies instantaneously. Players can also spread this damage across groups of enemies using the Legendary Aspect of Bounding Conduit, which lets Crackling Energy hit two other targets for five seconds after Teleporting.

So, the gameplay loop that players should follow with this build involves Teleporting into a group of enemies, casting Unstable Currents, followed by a spam of Ball Lightning, which can be intermixed with Lightning Spear if it isn’t cast by Unstable Currents’ ability. All players need to do then is Teleport to another group of enemies while in places like a Helltide or the Pit, and they can repeat the process within enough time to keep their Killstreak alive. This build has been fantastic for quickly clearing endgame activities in past Diablo 4 seasons, and now with Killstreaks and the Tower active, there’s never been a better time to build a Crackling Energy Sorcerer in Diablo 4.
