This Windrose Mod Makes Fast Travel Way More Convienent

Fast travel in Windrose can be a bit of a pain, but a new mod for the swashbuckling survival-crafter makes it as simple as clicking on the map.

Normally, to fast travel in Windrose, you need to create at least two fast travel points yourself, using the somewhat rare Fast Travel Bell item. These points can only be placed on coastlines, and when you’re on foot, only allow you you to travel between the points when you physically interact with one–although you can also fast travel to any fast travel point while on your ship.

Fast-traveling while on foot isn’t exactly convenient, especially when you find yourself in the middle of an island far from the shore. Thankfully, a mod from creator yakuzadeso (which you can find and install over on CurseForge) makes fast travel a breeze. With the Fast Travel From Anywhere mod installed, fast traveling between points is as easy as opening the map and clicking on the desired fast travel point location. The limitation of needing to physically interact with the fast travel point is removed, as is the need to have a minimum of two fast travel points placed.

With that one small change, one of Windrose’s early pain points is essentially removed. It is worth mentioning that the mod will break if you use the game’s fast travel point menu. As yakuzadeso notes, you shouldn’t ever need to use that particular menu, since you can fast travel using the map with the mod installed, but you’ll want to be aware of the possibility. The mod works in both single-player and multiplayer. There’s a step-by-step tutorial on how to get the mod installed and running on its CurseForge page.

Easier fast travel is just one of the mods for Windrose now available for download from CurseForge, with others adding options for first-person mode, the ability to pause the game, and improved storage capacity.

Windrose looks to be a hit, having sold more than a million copies in its first week and soaring up Steam’s top-played charts with over 200,000 concurrent players. Though it’s currently in early access, Windrose isn’t skimping on stuff to do, with developer Kraken Express estimating the game’s main story will take most players 50-70 hours to complete. Over the next several years, Kraken Express plans to add around 50% more content to Windrose, in the form of additional biomes, enemies, ships, loot, and more. Windrose’s price, currently $30, will increase after early access, Kraken Express said.

While Windrose is only available on PC for now, Kraken Express recently told GameSpot it is “enthusiastic” about a potential console release down the line, though it doesn’t currently have any plans to announce and is focused on working toward its 1.0 launch first.
