Tomorrow is Officially the End of an Era for GTA 6

The highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to pass yet another milestone. It’s been a long road to Grand Theft Auto 6, to say the least. Rockstar officially announced the game in 2022, a staggering nine years after its predecessor, the landmark GTA 5, first hit store shelves. It would take over a year for Rockstar to release the first GTA 6 trailer, and then there was another significant wait for the second trailer.

GTA 6 Trailer 2, released in May 2025, is the last time that fans got a substantial official update on the game, with Rockstar also releasing a bunch of high-quality screenshots to go along with the trailer. There have been a ton of GTA 6 leaks hitting the internet lately, but it’s still been over a year since the last official trailer dropped. The leaks may have been keeping some fans satiated, but for others, the long wait for more concrete info is nearly at an end.

When is the GTA 6: Extended Look on Netflix?

On Thursday, August 27 at 3pm EST, Rockstar Games will finally release a new look at Grand Theft Auto 6. The Extended Look will be released on Netflix first before making its way to Rockstar’s YouTube channel about six hours later. We don’t know how long the Extended Look will be or what it will entail, but it’s assumed to be roughly half-an-hour long with a big focus on gameplay. Since the first two GTA 6 trailers were mostly concerned with characters and story, getting a proper look at gameplay should be especially exciting for fans looking forward to the game, even in the wake of all the leaks.

The GTA 6 leaks have potentially taken some wind out of the Extended Look’s sails, but the leaks come without all that much context and there is still a lot of value to tuning in and learning about the game straight from Rockstar itself. It’s also possible that the Extended Look has some surprises in store that haven’t already been spoiled by the GTA 6 leaks. For example, we still haven’t heard anything about the game’s inevitable online multiplayer mode, so maybe that will get a highlight or at least a mention in passing during the Extended Look. Then again, it’s also possible that the GTA 6 online multiplayer mode won’t be coming until much later than expected, so fans should brace themselves for that possibility.

Whatever the case may be, Rockstar releasing the GTA 6 Extended Look on August 27 marks the end of a massive information drought. There are some leaks to suggest that there may be more GTA 6 showcases on Netflix after the initial Extended Look, but even if that’s not the case, fans shouldn’t have to suffer too long of a wait between updates on the game.

It will be interesting to see how GTA 6 fans respond to the Extended Look. There have been some mixed opinions on the GTA 6 leaked gameplay, but it’s unclear how old of a build that version of the game is and there may be other factors to consider as well.
