Top Upcoming FPS Games Releasing In July 2026

Top Upcoming FPS Games Releasing In July 2026

While somewhat lacking in major titles compared to the upcoming Fall and Winter seasons, July 2026’s biggest release is also the year’s biggest FPS game, and the genre in general seems set for a strong month. Before long, PC and console players will be shooting at aliens, dinosaurs, demons, and cultists, all of whom appear in games across different FPS subgenres like survival horror and boomer shooters. July could be a fantastic month for first-person shooters.

Top Upcoming Open-World Games Releasing In July 2026

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced aside, there’s more for fans of open-world games this summer, starting in July.

Except for Halo: Campaign Evolved, which is unquestionably July 2026’s standout FPS game, the month’s other shooters are more likely to slip through the cracks if you aren’t paying close attention to the release calendar. Yet, these titles hold just as much promise as Microsoft’s remake, and they could prove to be among the month’s nicest surprises. Lock and load your mouse or gamepad as we take a look at the upcoming FPS games set to debut in July.

Halo: Campaign Evolved Remakes An FPS Masterpiece

Coming July 28

  • Platforms: PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S
  • Other Genres: Sci-Fi
  • Multiplayer: Yes, but only online co-op (not PvP)

We might as well get the big one out of the way immediately – Halo: Campaign Evolved revives arguably the most important console FPS game of all time, remaking the 2001 classic by specifically focusing on the story rather than the PvP multiplayer modes. Just to avoid misconceptions, this is a proper remake and not just a remaster that boosts the visuals. Campaign Evolved includes new weapons, vehicles, missions, enemy types, and mechanics, along with revamped level design to improve certain sections like The Library.

We’re not changing the stories, it’s about refining and adding context to this moment, and other levels like it, so players can stay on track. – Executive Producer Damon Conn

Although the multiplayer component was removed, Campaign Evolved actually enhances Halo: Combat Evolved‘s co-op by offering 4-player online co-op alongside the original’s 2-player split-screen support. The remake even launches with cross-platform play, so for the first time, Xbox and PlayStation players will be able to play through Halo together.

Clawed Throws You Into Jurassic Park (Or World, To Be Exact)

Coming July 23

  • Platform: PC
  • Other Genres: Survival Horror
  • Multiplayer: Yes, online co-op

There’s no such thing as “too many dinosaurs,” and frankly, we don’t get anywhere near enough Jurassic-themed games for that to ever become a possibility. Whether basking in their majesty, running from their jaws, or shooting at their scaly hides, dinosaur games always feel a little bit special, and Clawed does not seem to be an exception. I generally advise exercising caution when exploring a Steam indie game that seems way too ambitious, but Flatrock Games at least provides a demo that showcases its vision.

You are an agent sent to investigate Prehistoria, a seemingly abandoned theme park that is, essentially, Jurassic World. Playable in third and first-person, Clawed leans primarily into survival horror, with the demo emphasizing atmosphere, slow-paced exploration, and environmental puzzles. However, gunplay doesn’t appear to be an afterthought either, and you will certainly find yourself having to fight off prehistoric monsters while armed with just a pistol.

DOOM: The Dark Ages – Revelations Is More Doom

Coming July 7

  • Platforms: PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S
  • Other Genres: Run and Gun

Despite garnering mostly praise, DOOM: The Dark Ages kind of got overshadowed by 2025’s many other brilliant games, to the point that it was not in contention for many folks’ GOTY. However, id Software still put together a fine-as-heck first-person shooter, and the “Revelations” expansion should build beautifully upon that base. The Slayer finds himself in purgatory, where he must fight out of his mind and take on old gods to escape.

Featuring new levels with deeper puzzles, new demons, and new mysteries, Revelations also adds new dimensions to combat with the deadly Chain Spear, offering returning Slayers a uniquely satisfying combat system that rewards mastery with a potent combination of power and mobility. – Slayersclub

Besides the expansion, which is expected to be much bigger than DOOM Eternal‘s “The Ancient Gods,” id Software also plans to release the free Ripatorium 3.0 update, which adds customization options, new maps, demons, and fully upgraded new weapons.

From horror shooters to legendary run-and-gun franchises, plenty of awesome FPS games have confirmed major expansions for 2026.

Cultic Comes To Consoles (Finally)

Coming July 23

Jasozz Games’ Cultic dropped its first chapter on PC in 2022, with its second following in 2025; basically, the game has been around for a while, but July 2026 marks its console release. In recent years, boomer shooters have become so commonplace that they are no longer exciting, but Cultic is generally (and rightfully) regarded as one of the best examples of this movement. Along with satisfying, visceral gunplay, the visuals are incredibly stylish and, at times, gorgeous, with some truly stunning backdrops.

At least on PC, Cultic really nails its movement, with the protagonist’s controls encouraging dynamic, fast-paced action that relies on dodging attacks to get the perfect shot. While you can play this as a straightforward run-and-gun title, Cultic heavily favors tactical combat that uses the environment and traps.

High on Life 2 Lands On The Switch 2

Coming July 1

  • Platform: Nintendo Switch 2
  • Other Genres: Sci-Fi, Comedy

Switch 2 owners had to wait awhile, but they will finally get to play High on Life 2 in July. If you enjoyed the first game, the sequel will probably hit the mark with you, as its combat, pacing, and movement are marginally better. The humor is more subjective, but it has a couple of decent laughs as well. The original version launched with its share of bugs, but hopefully, Squanch Games used this extra time to fine-tune the Switch 2 release to avoid too many issues.
