Supermassive Games, the Guildford-based developers behind the 2015 version of Until Dawn, announced on social media that it was starting a process that could see several staff members laid off. Along with its work on Until Dawn, Supermassive Games has gained a reputation for its continued development of The Dark Pictures Anthology.
Supermassive Games Could Lay Off Up to 75 Employees
Just three months after the release of Directive 8020, Supermassive Games stated that it had come to a difficult decision. The English development studio posted on social media that it was preparing to undergo a “redundancy consultation process” that could see up to 75 staff members laid off after the process is complete. Supermassive Games stated that the process was a necessary move to ensure the company remains sustainable. Supermassive then said it would support any staffers impacted by the layoffs, though the company did not say what support it could provide. Two years after being purchased by Nordisk Films in 2022, Supermassive Games conducted a round of layoffs in early 2024 that saw 90 staff members let go from their positions at the time.
