Valve Confirms Steam Machine and Steam Frame Launch Window

Pam’s Colecovision was her babysitter, from the age of 4 or 5, but the family only had one game. Over and over, hour after hour, she’d climb and jump through the three levels of Donkey Kong. But the real love affair began with the NES and Dragon Warrior, when she first experienced the depth and immersion possible in video game worlds. Valve has finally confirmed that both the Steam Machine and Steam Frame VR headset can be expected to launch sometime this summer. The two devices were first announced in late 2025 alongside a redesigned Steam Controller, and Valve’s Steam Machine has since spent its time at the center of speculation about its potential price, availability, and manufacturing challenges. And, of course, almost everybody interested in purchasing it or the Steam Frame were eager to find out exactly when they’d be able to get their hands on one.

The Steam Machine and Steam Frame Can Be Expected ‘This Summer’

While definite release dates for the Steam Machine and Steam Frame have still not been announced, Valve has at least confirmed that both devices will be “shipping this summer.” The announcement was primarily centered around discussing the expanded Steam Verified program beyond the Steam Deck. According to the company, Steam Machine Verified requirements are nearly identical to those for Valve’s popular portable gaming PC. These standards are meant to let a player know how well a game will perform on the devices without additional configuration. And if a title already runs well on the Steam Deck, it should generally perform acceptably on the Steam Machine as well.
