The price of video games has been a hot-button issue within the gaming community for years, with the cost of new games steadily rising. The current console generation saw the standard price for new games being raised from $60 to $70, with hardware for platforms like the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S also growing more expensive. Some new games have even pushed $80 price tags on release, with the most notable example being Mario Kart World, a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2. Now, however, Xbox fans are getting the chance to pick up a plethora of popular games for shockingly low prices at Walmart.

The big sale on Xbox games was confirmed to be typical for Walmart in the comments of the post. Another user replied that the discounted prices were likely a clearance move by Walmart to make space in stores for upcoming new releases, attempting to quickly clear older inventory. The original poster also confirmed that the selection of games saw similar markdowns for their PS5 versions on Walmart’s website. Many fans even suggested that the sale may be part of Walmart trimming its Xbox selection, with some users reporting vastly smaller retail space for the Microsoft console.
Xbox fans can take advantage of the sale to score big discounts on some of the biggest new releases from the past year. The sale features several games released during the latter half of 2025, including Borderlands 4 following the release of the Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned DLC. Several Xbox games were even marked down to less than $20, with the previously-mentioned South Park Snow Day joined by WWE 2K25 and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — The Definitive Edition.

Microsoft is also gearing up to launch not only a reboot of Fable later in 2026 but also a remake of the original Halo with Halo: Campaign Evolved. 2026 is set to be a big year for Xbox, with some of its biggest franchises receiving new games.
