World of Warcraft Might Bring Back Limited Promo Items in Patch 12.0.5

World of Warcraft Might Bring Back Limited Promo Items in Patch 12.0.5

World of Warcraft is seemingly bringing back several old limited-time promotional items from 2024, including the Hateforged Blazecycle mount, via the Trading Post in Patch 12.0.5. Assuming this is the case, World of Warcraft fans will have another chance to earn items that were otherwise region-locked or behind a paywall.

Blizzard is no stranger to promotions with external brands. For instance, World of Warcraft players who purchase select Trolli products can earn the Gummi the Glow Wyrm pet. That said, many of these promos were region-locked, limited in stock, or required the purchase of products ranging in price from snacks to gaming peripherals.

World of Warcraft Teases Return to the Least Popular Expansion in History

World of Warcraft: Midnight drops what could be a teased return to one of the most divisive expansion packs in the MMO’s long history.

Old Promo Items May Appear in WoW’s Trading Post in Patch 12.0.5

However, it seems like World of Warcraft will be giving gamers a second chance to obtain these items in the near future. As of a recent build of the World of Warcraft Patch 12.0.5 PTR, several limited-time promo items from 2024 have been given Trader’s Tender costs, implying they will appear in the Trading Post soon. This includes Lil’ Flameo, acquired by purchasing SteelSeries peripherals, the Sand Scarab, an old World of Warcraft TCG reward that became a Twitch Drop, and the coveted Hateforged Blazecycle from the Mountain Dew collab.

    • Trader’s Tender cost: 500

Assuming these items do come to the Trading Post at these listed prices, they should be relatively affordable. The Hateforged Blazecycle mount from the WoW x Mountain Dew collab is currently listed at 500 Trader’s Tender, while the pets are 250 each and the tabard is only 100.

There is currently no official word on when or if these items will arrive at the Trading Post. It is possible they could be spread out across multiple months, and they may not even arrive until after Patch 12.0.5. Even so, Blizzard has said past promo items will eventually make their way to the Trading Post in World of Warcraft, and these price listings suggest that may be sooner rather than later. Fans can probably expect other limited items to follow suit.

This is a universally good thing for the World of Warcraft community. As exciting as limited-time promotions can be, they exploit FOMO to urge gamers to spend money and lead to frustration if the events take place outside their region. Scalpers then prey upon those players, snapping up codes and selling them at inflated costs. World of Warcraft is inundated with promotions right now, so this paradigm shift can at least give fans peace of mind that they will likely be able to get these items again some time in the future.
