World of Warcraft has officially revealed Midnight Patch 12.0.5, which introduces new in-game activities like Void Assaults, Ritual Sites, and Abyss Anglers, the Decor Duels minigame, and the Voidforge progression system. Midnight may have only just released, but World of Warcraft is already looking towards the next content update.
The WoW: Midnight expansion arrived on March 2, bringing with it four new zones, eight dungeons, 10 delves, and a slew of open-world activities and quests. The battle against Xal’atath and her Devouring Host is heating up, with the first two of Midnight’s three raids opening March 17 at the start of Season 1.
World of Warcraft Fans Aren’t Happy With New Midnight Housing Items
Player Housing arrives alongside the World of Warcraft: Midnight expansion, but some new decor items are causing quite a stir among the community.

Void Assaults are a new open-world activity that will take place in Eversong Woods and Zul’Aman, rotating between the two zones on a weekly basis. Xal’atath’s armies will attack key locations in Void Strikes that must be repelled individually. Once these objectives are complete, forces will amass at Void Incursions, which will require many champions to overcome.
Meanwhile, Ritual Sites are Naga- and Twilight’s Blade-themed instances that can be completed solo or in groups of up to five players. Customizable challenges, higher tiers, and Great Vault rewards await fans who complete Ritual Sites, which sound similar to delves in many ways. Both Ritual Sites and Void Assaults will reward Field Accolades, a new currency that can buy Champion and Heroic gear.
Players can also team up with the cheeky Domanaar Decimus to build the Voidforge in the Voidstorm zone of WoW: Midnight. Defeating Season 1 raid bosses, Mythic+ dungeons, Bountiful Delves, and Nightmare Prey Hunts will award powerful gear via the Voidforge, which seems like this season’s version of the popular Dinar or Puzzling Cartel Chip catch-up mechanic. Fans can also help create the Ascendant Nilhammer to upgrade their weapons and trinkets using Ascendant Voidcores.
For fishing enthusiasts, Abyss Anglers, which takes place off the coast of WoW: Midnight‘s Zul’Aman zone, offers a fun non-combat activity. Players team up with other would-be anglers to dive into the depths, spear schools of fish, and find sunken treasure to earn fishing rewards, diving gear upgrades, and cosmetics.
Lastly, a new PvP prop hunt minigame called Decor Duels is coming in this update. One team will hide throughout Silvermoon as various pieces of decor, while the other will have to find them before the time runs out. Participating in this short hide-and-seek activity grants several cosmetic rewards as well, including toys, Housing decor, and a mount.
At present, this update does not have a release date, but past release trends give a pretty good hint as to when it will arrive. There are usually about eight weeks between WoW updates, so if Patch 12.0.5 arrives eight weeks after Midnight‘s launch, it will likely release on or around April 28.
What’s After World of Warcraft: Midnight Patch 12.0.5?
Though details are sparse, World of Warcraft fans have a decent idea of what’s coming after this update. 12.0.7, arriving in late spring or early summer, introduces a new campaign chapter, escalates the Void Assaults coming in 12.0.5, and adds a standalone raid encounter. Patch 12.1, the first major post-launch update, will arrive this summer, introducing a zone, raid, dungeon, world boss, and more. It hasn’t been officially revealed yet, but evidence suggests the mysterious island of Atal’Utek could be the WoW: Midnight Patch 12.1 zone.
Patch 12.1.5, arriving next fall, introduces another off-patch raid in World of Warcraft, as well as the Labyrinth “mega-delve” instance. Then, 12.1.7 will continue the story once more, all while also adding a new standalone game mode, which fans suspect could be a social deduction activity like Among Us. With tons of excitement planned for this year, World of Warcraft players should have no shortage of reasons to log on.
