WWE 2K26‘s upcoming Ringside Pass Season 3 is adding a rare version of Rey Mysterio that first appeared in the rival WCW promotion. The short-lived variant coming to WWE 2K26 saw Mysterio teaming up with multiple future WWE legends.
The newest entry in the annual wrestling franchise offers a wide cast of current WWE superstars and past legends for players to choose from. WWE 2K26‘s launch in March introduced a cast of more than 370 WWE superstars, mixing modern stars such as Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso with beloved past wrestlers like The Undertaker and “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Visual Concepts is also continuing to add new superstars to the game through its Ringside Passes, with big names such as Jeff and Matt Hardy and Danhausen planned to come to WWE 2K26. Now, Ringside Pass Season 3 is getting a brand-new version of one of WWE’s most beloved talents.

WWE 2K26 is Adding Rey Mysterio’s Filthy Animals Appearance
Visual Concepts and 2K officially revealed that a new Rey Mysterio variant will be added toWWE 2K26with Ringside Pass Season 3. The Rey Mysterio variant pulls from his 1999 appearance as part of the Filthy Animals faction in WCW, wearing denim overalls and a Mysterio skullcap. The Filthy Animals faction saw Mysterio pair up with multiple other future WWE Hall of Fame members, with Eddie Guerrero and Torrie Wilson appearing in the first incarnation of the group. Season 3 ofWWE 2K26‘s Ringside Passis currently scheduled for an unspecified date in June 2026.

The classic version of Rey Mysterio will be the iconic luchador’s first alternate in the game, though some fans have pointed out an issue with Mysterio’s depiction. Many have pointed out that the version of Rey Mysterio featured in Filthy Animals did not wear a mask, with WWE 2K26‘s version donning a black mask. When he joined Filthy Animals in August 1999, Mysterio had already removed his mask earlier that year after losing a tag match to Kevin Nash and Scott Hall of WCW’s iconic nWO faction. Mysterio did not resume wearing the mask until he signed on with WWE in 2002.
Rey Mysterio’s Filthy Animals variant is one of several new characters set to be added in WWE 2K26‘s Ringside Pass Season 3. Visual Concepts confirmed three of the WWE superstars planned for Season 3 ahead of the game’s launch in March, adding Matt Cardona, Brian Pillman, and La Parka. The developer has since confirmed more variants planned to debut with the new season, including a 2001 version of Kane based on his time as one half of the Brothers of Destruction with The Undertaker.

WWE 2K26 has a lot in store for fans beyond Ringside Pass Season 3 as well, with several exciting additions on the way. Ringside Pass Season 4 will add the previously mentioned Hardy Boyz to the game, alongside Lady Shani and rapper Jelly Roll. Season 5 will feature one of WWE’s most viral new talents in Danhausen as part of its featured lineup, while Season 6 will introduce superstars like Royce Keys, Earthquake, and Typhoon. WWE 2K26‘s already sizable roster is set to grow even more throughout the coming months.
