Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games just confirmed fans will get an extended look at GTA 6, and presumably its setting of Vice City, on August 27, and now news is breaking that WWE is attempting to trademark Vice City. As of this writing, it remains to be seen if this becomes any sort of conflict given the nature of the trademarks and ownership, but it could also be that WWE wants to capitalize on GTA 6 itself.
As fans may now know, GTA 6: The Extended Look comes to Netflix on August 27 and will be the biggest look at the game yet. Marketing should pick up around or after then as well, all building up to GTA 6‘s release date in November. WWE planning to bring Lola Vice from NXT to WWE in this window was never likely a coincidence, as she could likely capitalize on the hype of GTA 6 for in-ring and for WWE, and it’s likely her character (real name Valerie Loureda) would be at the heart of this.
GTA 6 (Entertainment World Champion) vs. WWE
As WWE fans know, NXT’s Women’s Division is always popping, with La Primera Stephanie Vaquer making the jump to the main roster in recent months. The same is expected of Lola Vice, although it is unclear if she would join Raw or SmackDown, where she is expected to receive a push from WWE. She is billed as being from Miami, Florida—the real Vice City—and the term Vice City is often used for her, so the trademark is likely in conjunction with that use. As of August 4, as reported by Kotaku and Fightful, WWE has applied for the use of “Vice City” from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), but it’s currently pending review.

That said, it’s worth noting that WWE isn’t trying to own the term Vice City but simply use it in the context of wrestling and live sports, which would be hard to imagine either Miami or Rockstar objecting to. There would likely be bleedover in the popularity, of course, but modern audiences understand the contextual usage here. The language of the USPTO filing makes it clear as well that WWE isn’t trying to impede GTA 6‘s depiction of Vice City:
“Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”
At the end of the day, it’s just a thing and more of a coincidence than anything. It’s quite funny visually, however, when breaking down the relationship between companies. GTA 6 is developed by Rockstar, which is owned by Take-Two Interactive, which also owns 2K Games, which publishes the WWE 2K games. Perhaps GTA 6 protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos come to WWE 2K27 because of this relationship. Strauss Zelnick is in WWE 2K26 after all.

No matter what, fans understand that Miami is Vice City, that GTA 6 is set in a fictional Vice City, and that Lola Vice is from Vice City/Miami, Florida. No filing is going to stop fans from chanting, or not chanting, her name, as it’s not likely enough to get her over on its own. She’s done plenty of that herself.
