Xbox Already Making Console Change Based on Xbox Player Voice Community Feedback

A new Update Preview for Insiders on Xbox consoles is changing how playtime works, adjusting it based on feedback recently gathered via the Xbox Player Voice program. So far, it seems the Xbox Player Voice program is a big success, with it also confirming that Xbox fans want more exclusive games than anything else, but that’s certainly not actionable within a few days. What is, though, is how players receive information regarding playtime.

The Xbox Player Voice program is designed to be a place where Xbox players submit their feedback and desires for the platform, and then Xbox will react accordingly. As the company states, some ideas will move forward while others are not actioned, depending on the request or it taking longer in some cases. This new change falls in the quick adjustment category, but it does come from the Player Voice program.

Xbox Making Big Changes to Achievements

Xbox insiders get a glimpse at major changes to achievements now, but everyone else has to wait a bit longer for the rollout.

In short, Xbox Insiders can currently preview a new OS update for Xbox consoles that, among other things, adjusts playtime from days to hours. The request and speedy fix make perfect sense. My PlayStation friends can tell me how many hours they have in Apex Legends instantly, while I (as an Xbox player) have to sit down and convert days into hours with my handy dandy calculator. It’s not a game-changing console update or anything, but it’s a small victory for the program and for new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma.

Of course, there are other updates included in this Xbox preview before it all goes out to the wider audience. It also includes some bug fixes, namely issues where a profile page would not appear, where an icon focus would disappear when navigating menu, and other miscellaneous stability and performance fixes. Xbox engineers are also looking into new issues that have cropped up around Gamerscore badges and how some games are not appearing in their My Games and Apps collection. Overall, it’s a small but meaningful update to the Xbox community.

Since Asha Sharma took over from Phil Spencer as CEO, she seems to be racking up quite a few small victories. The real test, although it’s perhaps a preliminary test given she has yet to be CEO for even 100 days, is the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase. Fans are going to want to see the right games, releasing at the right time, with the right messaging around them, and some of that is already set in stone for 2026. But, depending on how that pulls out, it might be a pretty good year for Xbox in terms of brand identity and image.

After all, the highest-rated game of the year right now is Forza Horizon 6, from developer Playground Games and publisher Xbox Game Studios. It remains to be seen if that momentum holds with other releases, but things are looking up.
