Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Final Fantasy 3 have joined the Xbox Game Pass content catalog earlier today, March 3. The RPG duo arrive mere hours before Microsoft is expected to officially announce the Xbox Game Pass Wave 1 lineup for March 2026.
Since the beginning of the year, Microsoft’s subscription service has been adding games at a significantly higher rate than its usual pace. 18 new titles joined in January, with another 20 arriving in February 2026. Xbox Game Pass lost 17 titles over the same two-month period, resulting in a net gain of 21. The figure marks a notable improvement compared to the first two months of 2025, when the service added 21 games while removing 28 others, for a net loss of seven. In total, that puts Xbox Game Pass 28 games ahead of where it stood at this point in 2025.
Xbox Game Pass Adds 2024 Game with ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ Reviews
The 19th title to join Xbox Game Pass in February 2026 is a 2024 release with over 31,000 ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ player reviews.
Final Fantasy 3 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Make Their Xbox Game Pass Debuts
The latest Xbox Game Pass catalog expansion took place in the early morning hours ET on March 3, adding Final Fantasy 3 Pixel Remaster and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. The arrivals are available across all non-Essential tiers: Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass. Both mark their Xbox Game Pass debuts, as neither has previously been available on the service. While they are mechanically about as different as two RPGs can be, they also have one key point of overlap: strong critical reception. Final Fantasy 3 Pixel Remaster holds a mean score of 82 on OpenCritic, whereas Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is one of the highest-rated games of 2025 with an average of 89 on the platform. Both also boast “Very Positive” user reviews on Steam, although Warhorse Studios’ medieval RPG has a significantly larger sample size, with just over 60,000 user ratings compared with roughly 1,500 for Final Fantasy 3.
With these additions, Microsoft’s subscription service has received 40 new titles since the start of 2026. Classic Square Enix JRPGs account for three of them, or 7.5%, after the Pixel Remasters of Final Fantasy 1 and Final Fantasy 2 joined Xbox Game Pass on January 8 and February 3, respectively. If the current release pattern holds, the remaining Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster titles could arrive in Q2 2026, continuing the one-release-per-month schedule.

More Xbox Game Pass News Expected Later Today
As is often the case, Final Fantasy 3 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 were announced as the final titles in Xbox Game Pass’ Wave 2 lineup in the month prior to their launch. The minor schedule mismatch aligns with another long-standing pattern: Microsoft’s preference for announcing its subscription content waves on Tuesdays. Based on the company’s usual cadence, the roster for the first half of the month is most likely going to be announced later today, March 3, around 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET / 3 p.m. CET.
The only title currently confirmed for the next batch of arrivals is Planet of Lana 2, scheduled for a day-one launch on March 5. Although Xbox Game Pass currently has more than 20 day-one titles that were announced for 2026 but have yet to secure firm release dates, most of them are expected to arrive no earlier than the spring. As a result, they are unlikely to feature in the first half of March, i.e., this season’s final full winter wave of additions.
