Xbox Game Pass subscribers now have Call of Duty: Vanguard to jump into, as the shooter joins the lineup of titles available on the service on June 17. Since Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard in October 2023, Xbox has steadily expanded the number of Call of Duty games available through Game Pass, giving access to more entries from one of gaming’s biggest franchises.
The addition of Vanguard may not come as a complete surprise to some subscribers. Rumors earlier this year suggested that the 2021 shooter would be the next Call of Duty title headed to Xbox Game Pass, and those reports have now proven accurate. This has already been a particularly busy month for the subscription service; there were a number of exciting additions in the first half of June, with plenty to look forward to as well.
Call Of Duty: 13 Games With The Best Zombies Modes
Zombies has been a Call of Duty staple for well over a decade now. The games on this list feature the best iterations of the addictive horror mode.
Call of Duty Fans Can Now Enjoy Vanguard on Game Pass
Call of Duty: Vanguard officially joined Xbox Game Pass on June 17, making it available to Ultimate, Premium, and subscribers on console, PC, and the cloud. Developed by Sledgehammer Games and originally released in 2021, the title takes players back to World War 2 and follows the formation of an international special forces unit tasked with stopping a Nazi operation in the closing days of the conflict. In addition to its campaign, Call of Duty: Vanguard includes a Zombies experience created in collaboration with Treyarch as well as traditional multiplayer modes.
When it launched, COD: Vanguard received mixed reviews, with many players praising its gunplay, visuals, and campaign set pieces, while others criticized its progression systems and lack of innovation compared to previous entries in the franchise. Even so, Vanguard remains notable for its extensive multiplayer offering and its return to World War 2, which was the setting of the original trilogy.

While the addition of Vanguard to Xbox Game Pass gives subscribers the opportunity to check out a title they may have missed, it also means that another Zombies mode has become available through the service. There are currently seven titles from the franchise available on Microsoft’s gaming service, and future Call of Duty titles will no longer be launching day one on Xbox Game Pass, a side effect of the recent price cuts. So, although opinions on Vanguard’s Zombies were divided when the game launched, and remain so even to this day, the mode still offers players another option to dive into.
